Connelly keeps pouring out detective novels that keep my interest. It started with the Harry Bosch novels in the 1980's. His latest deals with a female cop, Detective Ballard, surfer dudette who is on the outs in her department because she had the 'balls' to accuse her boss of sexual harassment. As a result, she is given 'the late show,' the tour from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM. She ends up unraveling two cases, one the savage beating of a transvestite, the other, a crooked cop. Along the way, she breaks the rules, pisses off other cops but solves the case. A good read.
