Cool And Overcast In Virginia

Our Beautiful Sixteen-Year-Old Granddaughter, Hayden

Another Morning In Virginia
It's almost 8:00, gray and mild out and two have left, Drew for work, Hayden for school, two to go, Halle to school, Jill to work.  But first, Jill and I are going to take the dogs for a walk around 8:30, after Halle's off to school.

Yesterday we more or less hung out, waiting for the girls to get home, but also getting some things done around here as both Jill did not have to work and Drew worked from home because of car and dentist appointments.  It's amazing to see how many are able to work from home if need be.  So the extent of our activity yesterday morning was to watch TV, write the blog and wait until lunchtime when Drew biked home from dropping off his car and the four of us decided to go out to lunch at BJ's Brewhouse, a neat restaurant ten minutes away.  It's a very popular spot and I can see why, lots of micro brews, a cool bar, classy restaurant and good food.  Evie had a great salad with portobellos and I had a tasty burger with fries that everyone loved, finishing them up for me.  Afterwards, Drew and I went home, he to work, me to take a nap and read some.  And Jill and Evie went shopping for our dinners the next couple of nights, at BJ's, similar to Costco and Giant grocery.

The Loving Couple At Lunch
Hayden was home early in the day by the way because she was not feeling well and Jill took her to the doctor to make sure she didn't have mono or strep throat, a worry for someone as busy as Hayden is with her studies and sports and one of her friends was just diagnosed with mono.  Fortunately, she seems to have been just overtired and slept much of the afternoon.  Halle wanted to skip volleyball so she could be home with her 'grandparents', so Jill picked her up at 2:30.  Somewhere in the afternoon, Drew and I drove to the Wine and Beer store to pick up some libations for the weekend.

The Girls In The Kitchen
And, then, in what seems like a never-ending day for the family, Drew took Hayden to Physical Therapy for an hour around 4:30, picked up his car, then drove Halle to tutoring from 6:00 to 7:00.  While this was going on, Evie was roasting the cauliflower in the oven for dinner, getting things ready for the return of the girls and Jill grilled the salmon outside for our dinner.  Drew and Halle returned around 7:15 and everyone was hungry by then and enjoyed the salmon, cauliflower, rice and salad.  We then sat around watching either football or baseball, as the girls did their homework and got ready for the next day of school.  We did not stay up to see the end of the National's game, all of us going to bed when they were behind by three runs.  They ended up losing but it sounded like an exciting comeback but not enough to beat the Cubs.

Mornings With Coco And Rescue Dog Daisy
Tonight we are having my sister and her husband Walt over for dinner.  They live about a half hour away in Herndon, VA, so that should be fun.
