A Rainy Monday Morning

7:06

9:10
When I got up at 6:20, it was pouring rain, the sound pleasing on an early morning.  It stopped around 8:00 so that I could get an hour kayaking in but now, at 9:15, it's pouring again, the Bemus shoreline barely visible, with leaves falling from our trees.  It's 67º out and will not get much higher.

It was a good morning for birding, lots of photographs.  I now know the spots where the various waterfowl gather, so it's getting easier to find them to photograph.

Yesterday it was overcast much of the day although it never did not rain. It just wasn't sunny.  We were unsure as to what to do with the day but the weather decided for us.  We did our usual fall Sunday, walking the Chautauqua Institution for an hour, as a wedding was going on in the Hall of Philosophy.  It was a good day for a walk, not too warm, lots of fall colors, a few other couples out for a walk like us.  When we got home, we had a menemen, a Turkish omelet with tomatoes and feta cheese and watched CBS Sunday Morning.

I took it easy the rest of the afternoon, watching some football, reading, and taking a nap.  Evie wanted to get the lawn mowed before today's rain, so she worked in the yard, cutting the lawn for a good hour.  Fortunately, we did not have anything much to do the rest of the day and dinner was leftover lamb, rice and ratatouille, so we relaxed in the afternoon, watching some TV until it was wine time around 6:00.  It was a strange early evening as the gray sky in front of our house turned pink off to the north around 7:00.

We had an easy dinner, then, and switched back and forth between the Kansas City football game, which they won, and the Indians game which they lost.  I finished my Michael Connelly earlier in the day and was excited to get back to my Empire Falls, by Richard Russo, which to my surprise, I have never read.
