It's 7:00 as I start this blog, the darkness having slowly ebbed to gray, as the lake and shorelines are visible on a 65º morning. It rained last night just enough to get the ground wet, typical precipitation lately. I paddled for 50 minutes, on a gray lake with a gray sky, one of three boats out this morning. Bemus Bay has turned green with algae and signs are up warning people although the water along Woodlawn is clear.

Kayak Morning. Looking East |

Northern Sky |
Yesterday was somewhat of a wasted day when I look back at it in that we did not get in any hiking or biking. I did kayak, however, on a quiet lake so that was fun. After our morning routine, we took a stab at organizing our attic, something that we have been ignoring. We did make progress, however, pleasing us both and we will get back to it in good time. By 11:00, we were off to Erie because Evie wanted to check out her new favorite shoe, a Hoka, and they were available at a shoe store in Erie called Shoefly. They actually have a staff to help with picking out and trying on shoes, so after a half-hour of trying, Evie came home with a new pair, hoping they were comfortable. We stopped at Chick-fil-A la for lunch and didn't get home till 2:30 because we took the old way home, on back roads through Findlay Lake and Sherman. It was a good choice because the leaves are changing away from the lake so it was a beautiful drive.
Shopping tends to do both of us in and the rest of the day was mostly a waste. We read, napped, watched TV, and wished, only wished, that we had done something outside and enjoyed the day. Around 4:00, I did get a couple of chores done, pulling the sump pump out of the lake and putting away four hoses for the winter.

Evie prepped dinner, Wienerschnitzel at 4:30, pounding out the pork and breading it and we then sat out on the dock to enjoy a glass of wine and a spectacular sky until it started to drizzle, so we went in and sat on the porch until time to make dinner. We had baked red potatoes, salad, broccoli, and homemade applesauce to go with the schnitzel so we were happy. And Evie made enough schnitzel so that we have tonight's dinner. We watched a bad Saturday Night Live, skipping through most of it, then our series, Goliath and a Jeopardy. Can anyone defeat Matt?
