Another Brilliant Sun Rising

Easter At Linda And Ron's

6:57

7:05

It's 7:15 and the sun just rose a few minutes ago, on a partly cloudy sky, a placid lake.  It's a chilly 34º but will be warming up to the '50s later in the day.  At the moment, I don't have the mojo to kayak but by 8:00, I will be out on the water.  It's almost 9:00 as I finish this blog, and I have been out paddling for an hour, heading north this time to Whitney Bay where a new Mc Mansion is being erected.

Easter Sunday was another fine day here on the lake, warming up into the '60s and lots of sunshine, little wind.  The day started as I like, with a long hour paddle down to the Powerboat Club and back, literally the only one on the lake.  Once Evie woke up, we decided on walking in the CI but first, we finished up the blog and straightened up the kitchen.  It was a good day for a walk and for the first time in months, lots of people were out enjoying a walk on the CI grounds like us.  We walked for forty-five minutes, enough for both of us because we were anxious to get home for a big breakfast.  Evie wasted no time in frying up some potatoes, eggs, and toasting some rolls.  We watched CBS Sunday Morning of course then did little the rest of the afternoon, wasting the day.

Before napping, I went outside and picked up a surprising amount of deadfall from the front yard, filling up a garbage pail.  I then felt good reading, napping, and waking somewhat refreshed,  By 4:00, I wanted to do something, so I raked the backyard, mostly the deadfall from our Willow, filling another pail.

By 6:00, we were showered and dressed up for an Easter dinner at Linda and Ron's. Linda had a pitcher of whiskey sours waiting for us to start the evening,  It was a special recipe of frozen lemonade, whiskey and beer and tasted just as good if not better than my recipe with lemon juice and maple syrup.  For an appetizer, we had an appetizer of crab, shrimp, and avocado, three of our favorite things and a good way to start our Easter feast.

Easter Dinner

For dinner, we had pork shanks,  a dish popular in Germany but one we had never had.  It was great, with the meat falling off the bone in a tomato sauce, a side of whipped butternut squash.  Linda could not find shanks around here so she ordered them shanks online from a pork purveyor.  We ended the evening in their living room, with a rich luscious hummingbird cake with cream cheese frosting. What a night.  We waddled out to the car, wondering if we ever would have to eat again. I wanted to watch the Stanford/Arizona game when I got home but was too tired, so I went to bed and read before falling asleep.
