What A Gift

A stunning 16º morning of clear skies and brilliant sunshine.  Wow, what a way to wake up in the morning and have my coffee. I am a bit tired after listening to all 11 hours of the reading of the Stimulus Bill, ending at about 2:30 last night.  Just kidding.

Among The Hemlocks

Thursday morning we were welcomed with snowfall and by 10:30, after our morning constitutional of coffee, blog, and breakfast, a couple inches had fallen. We were determined to take advantage of this gift and drove over to Long Point for a hike.  We were rewarded with another late winter wonderland of crunchy snow and frosted tree limbs.  Most of the trails were untouched, as we were the first to get out there.  We loved it of course and were glad we walked it.  Today promises to be another good day.

Virgin Trails

I had the last of the white bean stew for lunch, with rice, and watched my show.  I had the rest of the afternoon to myself because Evie decided to hit T.J.Maxx and enjoy an afternoon of retail therapy.  I napped and read and listened to the news until she arrived home, arms filled with goodies. It was another striking afternoon on the lake, with lots of blue skies and sunshine and both of us thought of hiking Long Point again but were too lazy, alas.  Instead, we decided to reward ourselves with a Manhattan and some good cheese and celebrate the waning of the day.  It was a good choice.

Thursday Afternoon Blue

We had the leftover chicken, mushrooms, and artichokes for dinner, with rice this time. It tasted good and we were hungry.  We watched another Colbert, some home improvement shows, and another episode of Enlightenment before going upstairs to read and sleep.  It was a good day.

Quotation Of The Day:

“I don’t say this lightly,” Michael McDonald, a political scientist at the University of Florida, recently wrote. “We are witnessing the greatest rollback of voting rights in this country (by Republican State Legislators) since the Jim Crow era.”
