Chilly And Overcast

7:38

8:46

It's 8:45, windy and cool, the sun hidden behind the clouds and I just paddled for 35 minutes on a gray, choppy lake, down to Sandy Bottom and back.  I few fishing boats was anchored off of Long Point, a surprise because it's not ideal weather for the anglers.

Kayak Morning

Southern Sky

Yesterday may have been the end of the sunny and warm weather.  Unfortunately, neither of us spent much time outside.  I did paddle but then helped Evie make up a shopping list for Wegman's because we were having Wendy, a friend over for the dinner last night.  After doing a few minutes of raking deadfall from Tuesday night's wind, I drove into Lakewood, stopped for a coffee at Ryder's Cup, then on to Wegman's to shop.  It's a good time to shop, late morning, before noon although, for some reason, the check-out lines were long because there were few cashiers.  Usually, Wegmans is good at this.

I was home just before noon and helped Evie put away the groceries before heating up the leftover enchiladas for lunch.  I started a new series on Prime called Patriot, about a guy who goes undercover in Iran.  So far, I am not taken with it or him but I will give it a chance.  I then read some and napped while Evie began prepping for our dinner, making a dessert.  After my nap, I cleaned up the kitchen while Evie put together our Creamy Tuscan chicken dinner, with spinach, cherry tomatoes, cream and garlic,  It was ready by 4:30 and all that needed to be done is heat it up before eating.

I then went for a half-hour walk in the Victoria/Woodlawn woods, just as the sun was beginning to drop behind the trees.  I like to walk at this hour because of the colors in the woods, whatever season it may be.

Wendy arrived around 5:30, just as it was getting dark.  We enjoyed some wine and shrimp cocktail before dinner, catching up on all the complications in her life since her husband Charlie died.  We sure do miss him.  Dinner was great, saucy and tasty, not bland like many dishes from cookbooks.  We ended the night with a lemon pudding cake with raspberries. a fitting end to the evening.  It was fun having Wendy over and hope to see a lot more of her.  After she left we then got busy cleaning up the kitchen before settling down in front of the TV to watch Colbert and the news.

Good Friends
