A Bright Shining Morning (And Windy)

5:39
6:19
It just turned 8:00 as I returned from an hour paddle, down to the Powerboat Club and back, listening to Eric Clapton Essentials on Apple Music.  It was tough paddling south, into the wind, a piece of cake returning.  I was rewarded with a shot of an osprey, so the paddle was worth it.

Yesterday was a strange day, lots of wind, some sun and neither of us had much energy as if the last few days had done us in.  I tried to paddle but gave up after ten minutes because of the heavy winds and waves.  So we mostly sat around feeling sorry for ourselves as well as guilty much of the morning and early afternoon.  I did get out around 10:00, cleaned up the leaves and pine needles that fill our parking areas, and took a couple of buckets of clippings up the hill.  That was it in the morning for me.

Lunch was a frittata with cheese and scallions, something different and I watched my show.  I then read more of my book, The Splendid And The Vile, about Winston Churchill's leadership during 1940.  The vile, is, of course, Hitler and his master of propaganda, Joseph Goebbels.  It's amazing to see how Goebbels is a harbinger of Trumpism, with its lies, distorting truth, stoking of fear, and racism. It's an unsettling read.  I was happy to fall asleep.

Around 3:00, we both woke from our ennui, and Evie did some neighbor mowing for an hour and I worked in the yard and watered the plants, grasses, and trees for a good twenty minutes.  By 5:30, we were both exhausted on the couch from what little we accomplished but rewarded ourselves with a glass of wine.

Around 6:30, Evie reluctantly started dinner and by 7:00, we had salmon, rice, spinach and a salad, pretty good for a last-minute dinner.  We watched Colbert and were not sure what to watch afterward since we finished both The Last Dance and Dead To Me.  We decided on Better Call Saul but started on Season Three where we left off a couple of years ago.  It's a bit confusing but we are slowly catching on to the various threads.  We like it.
