Dark Clouds Over Chautauqua Lake

7:21

7:57

7:58
It's 7:54 and I have been up for an hour, the sky filled with dark, threatening clouds, the sun attempting vainly to peak through. It's 44º and though it's cloudy, it does not look like we will have any rain.  It's too late to kayak alas but I will make yoga.

It was cold, windy and wet Thursday morning when I got up so there was no desire to kayak but I did make it over to Bemus Point for breakfast. Six of us got caught up on the latest gossip and we sat around until 9:00, enjoying our breakfast and the morning out.  I did not go to yoga because two colleagues from Reserve were stopping by on their drive East.  We taught together at Reserve for probably thirty years but had not seen each other in at least ten to twelve years since we retired.

Friends And Colleagues From Western Reserve Academy, Chris and John
They live in Montague, Michigan, on White Lake, which empties into Lake Michigan.  Like us, they love living on the water.  They arrived just after 9:00 and we spent the next two hours catching up on our lives, our families and grandchildren.  Both John and Chris put us to shame with their volunteer work, having volunteered for many years not only in the States but also in Africa.  They are an amazing couple.  John taught Latin, Chris biology andd both were loved and respected by students and faculty alike.  They left around 11:00 and ended up having lunch at the Glen Iris Inn which we recommended, in Letchworth State Park.  It was a fun morning.

Because of the weather we did not venture out, preferring the warmth and coziness of our house. I had veggie soup for lunch and the last of the sub sandwich and watched my show.  When I napped, Evie watched her show and parts of Trump's ridiculous press conferences.  He is certifiable.  After my nap, I called Apple and began what I hoped was my last attempt at transferring photographs from Aperture to Photos. And I am happy to report it finally worked because after probably ten hours of transferring from one program to another, it's done.  I woke up this morning and the photographs, 75,000 of them were on Photos.  Yippee,

Anyways, late afternoon Evie got the dessert bug and put together apple dumplings, another blast from the past.  Once it was in the oven, we relaxed with some wine until the dumplings were done.  Then, having taken a frozen moussaka out of the freezer in the morning, she warmed it up in the oven with some rolls and made a salad.  We then had a Greek dinner and waited for our dumplings with ice cream when we started a new series on Netflix, what I would call a precursor to Fleabag called Crashings.  It's just as gross and outrageous as Fleabag, shocking in fact, but we stayed with it for the occasional wit and laughs.  The multi-talented, Emmy winning Phoebe Waller-Bridge also wrote and starred in this series, just as she did in the Emmy winning Fleabag.
