A Light Rain Morning

6:45

7:21
I am sitting here in the dark as the rain picks up, hitting the roof, the front door open as it's 20  degrees warmer this morning than yesterday morning.  A slash of orange over the opposite shoreline hints at the coming of the sun. I was up at 6:00 and have been sitting here on my computer for close to an hour, enjoying a quiet morning, waiting for Evie to get up in a while.  Occasionally, I am brought back to the present by gunshots in the distance, most likely goose hunters. And I am listening to a podcast from Pop Culture Happy Hour, as they discuss the amazing series on Netflix, UNBELIEVABLE, hard to watch but a must.  And I agree with them that Kaitlyn Dever as Marie is extraordinary, worth watching the series just for her.

Yesterday was an authentic fall day, cool, almost frosty, with partly cloudy skies and wind.  We got a late start getting going, meaning it took a while before we gathered the trash and I left for the Transfer Station.  By the time returned, Evie was ready for a walk in Bemus Point.

Walking Lakeside Drive
Modern House On The Lake
We usually walk Long Point State Park but this time, we walked along Lakeside Drive, a walk we used to take back in the day when we had not yet discovered the trails in the park.  It was a good day for a walk, as we were out for an hour, close to a three-mile walk out and back.  It felt good to get some exercise after our trip to Virginia.

Halloween Ghost
When we returned home, Evie heated up some leftover koftes and tomato sauce, topped with yogurt, a Turkish delight.  I watched some football, then read and napped,  Evie got caught up on some of her shows until midafternoon when she decided to cut the lawn and mulch the leaves. By the end of her mowing, she had walked 5 1/2 miles, counting our walk in the morning.  Clearly, she deserved to go out to dinner so we did.

Saturday Night At The Rod And Gun Club With Tina And Jim
Earlier, our lake neighbors and friends, Jim and Tina, had texted us to see if we wanted to meet them at the Rod and Club for dinner.  Of course, we said yes so we met them at the bar at 6:30.  We had a drink before we were called to our table.  Every Saturday is prime rib night so neither Evie nor I could resist it.  Tina and Jim ordered the steak sandwiches and all of our meals were fine.  We had fun talking with them, perhaps the last time until next Spring because they will be closing up their cottage in the next couple of weeks.  It was a fun way to start our return to the lake, a couple of meals with good friends.
