THE SIGNAL FLAME: ANDREW KRIVAC

This book was recommended to me by a good friend.  The Vinich clan, descended from European Slovak stock now live in central Pennsylvania.  The family reels from the effects of both World Wars and Vietnam, losing patriarchs and sons, leaving only Bo, a son, to pull the pieces together and make sense of the losses.  It reminds one of the film THE DEER HUNTER, also set in the mountains of Pennsylvania during the Vietnam War and addresses some of the same themes, loss, loyalty, family, violence, and death. ****
