A Quiet Morning As The Fog Rises

It's Been Grand

6:15
It's 6:40 and I have been up since 6:00.  The fog is beginning to disappear just as the sun broke through the cloud bank.  Its 60º and should be a nice day. I paddled for a half hour and was home in time to go over to Bemus for breakfast.

Heron Hanging In The Grasses
Yesterday could only be described as a down day.  For me, it began with a short, hurried paddle over to Long Point and back because Jill and her family were heading home around 9:00.  So Evie made breakfast sandwiches for the girls, Jill scoured the house to make sure they left nothing behind and they were on their way just about 9:00, a sad farewell.  Tommy and his family were also flying home early afternoon, so they were busy packing as well.  Their flight was at 1:00, so we drove off for Buffalo at 9:45, getting to the airport around 11:15, giving them plenty of time to check-in and board their flight.  On my way home,  I stopped at the Tuscany Deli in Fredonia and picked up a few things that Evie needed.

Marisa By The Lake
Fortunately, we still have two grandchildren with us, Tyler who stays till Sunday and Marisa, who doesn't have to leave until a week from Friday. When I returned from the airport, they were having lunch as Evie had made up another pot of corn chowder.  I had a bowl as well and like everyone else, I basically vegged the rest of the afternoon.  None of us went for a swim, hardly any of us left the house and if we did, it was to the porch.  Life after Tommy and Jill and their families felt empty and boring like there was nothing to do or we were just tired from a week of fun.

Bloomed And About To Bloom
We decided on an easy dinner, no fuss, so I picked up a pizza and a ham and cheese stromboli from Coppola's pizza in Bemus Point.  We were hungry by 6:00, so we sat out on the porch, enjoying our pizza and salad, a good dinner but we missed the noise and chaos of the rest of the gang.  It just seemed too quiet.

After dinner, we spent some time on our devices, watched some of the Democratic Debate, started a film we thought was silly, and ended up watching part of an old Quentin Tarrantino film, INGLORIOUS BASTERDS. And all of us went to bed early.
