Perhaps Sun And Blue Skies All Day

Happy To Be With Our Daughter, Beth, And Granddaughter, Marisa

It's a lovely morning, a few clouds, the sun, a quiet lake and a chilly 59º,  as temperates drop with highs in the 70's, almost fall-like.  It's a sad morning, however, as Beth and Marisa fly home to Dallas late afternoon. It's just before 9:00 and earlier,  I paddled over to the Long Point Bathhouse and home, running into our neighbor, Jeff, then our neighbors John and Maryanne out kayaking.  I photographed an osprey in the trees above the campground,  a heron on the fishing dock, and a kingfisher in the trees above the reeds, a good morning shoot, and paddle.

Yesterday was, what else, rainy in the morning, clearing in the afternoon.  I got in a quick paddle before breakfast in Bemus Point.  None of us were in the mood for yoga, preferring to hang out and not be in any hurry.  By 10:30, however, the sunny morning had turned to threatening skies so I quickly removed the weeds Evie cut from the dock, getting them in pail just as it started to pour, perfect timing.  Because of the rain, we decided to go to Bemus Point and hit their stores, again, a tradition, to see if there we any neat Chautauqua sweatshirts or tee shirts. We bought a couple of chai teas with coconut milk (pretty good) and shopped in three different stores, coming home with only a present from Beth for Evie, a cool colorful and beaded wind chime. She loved it.

Rock Painting With Beth
After shopping, none of us felt like lunch so we enjoyed just sitting around, occasionally snacking on something during the afternoon.  Beth, however, went out on the dock to enjoy some sun and Evie joined her until it became too windy and cool to stay out there. And one of the traditions at the lake is to paint rocks and because we collected a bunch at Barcelona's beach on Tuesday, Beth pulled out the paints and brushes and the four of us painted rocks until it was time for dinner.  Beth's, of course, are the best and the rest of us do our best, surprising ourselves occasionally with a rock that's not embarrassing.

Evie had dinner prepped, eggplant parmesan.  She fried and baked the breaded eggplant with cheese and sauce and I have to say it was the best eggplant parmesan I have had, ever, the eggplant thick yet tender, the outside crispy, the sauce setting it off.  It reminded me of our favorite Italian restaurant, Rocco's, where Evie always gets the eggplant parmesan, stacks of eggplant six inches high with their great sauce.

Around 8:15, we adjourned to the TV room to begin watching the second season of Working Moms. And because we finished the peach/blueberry pie yesterday, I, fortunately, bought a Junior's Cheesecake on our shopping spree on Wednesday, so we had cheesecake with homemade blueberry sauce for dessert.  We watched four more half-hour episodes of Season Two and I am getting more comfortable watching it, especially its explicitness.  Need I say more.
