A Darkening Morning Sky

7:23

7:43
8:17
It's 7:30 and the sky, the lake, are just becoming visible.  When I walked out to get the paper, I actually saw the moon through an opening in the cloudy sky.  What a relief to see it after 36 hours of rain, over two and a half inches.  It's warm, too, 53º and we may have some sunshine mixed in with clouds today.  I managed to get in a paddle, despite the fact the lake is high, my boots just high enough to avoid a soaker.  Loved kayaking on the dark blue lake this morning.

Kayaking South Towards Sandy Bottom

Kayaking North From Sandy Bottom
Yesterday began with coffee, then breakfast with the guys and my bragging about my new iWatch.  It did not go far with these old guys.  When I returned home, it was still raining, so there was no kayaking.  Evie was up, sitting in a chair downstairs, sipping her coffee, editing the blog, and making a Wegman's list.  She wanted to get in a walk and we thought shopping at Wegman's would be a good idea.  We did not leave until 11:00 and the ride, the shopping, and driving home took a lot out of her and may have been too much.  She was ready to get home and lie down.

More Leaves
Around 1:00, we had lunch, more homemade soup and I finished off the ham balls and cabbage. I watched another episode of OZARK, then read and took my nap while Evie sat for a while, then moved to the couch in the TV room, the most comfortable place downstairs.  Around 3:30, Evie decided to put together dinner, searing some chicken thighs, adding stewed tomatoes, hominy, sweet potatoes, green chiles, and green chili sauce to the pan and baked it for an hour and a half and we had our dinner,  We were then able to take it easy the rest of the afternoon, listen to the rain, watch some TV,  and have a glass of wine before dinner.  Evie made a salad around 6:30 along with a few fried slices of polenta and we then enjoyed our dinner, always a hit with our family because of the Southwestern taste.  And we watched two and a half episodes of The Bodyguard.  We are hooked on it and still are not sure of the bad guys.

Evie was tired by 9:30, so we skipped Colbert and she went up to bed.  I stayed up and watched a few minutes of the NFL and NBA before joining her.
