It's 7:00 and Long Point State Park, the Bemus shoreline has disappeared behind a heavy fog. I can barely make out my dock and boat. It' 51º out and it should be a fine day. I won't be out for a paddle for awhile because of the fog. It's 8:00 and no change in the weather...still fog bound. The good news in that behind our house, to the West, are blue skies.
Yesterday was the first day where we both seemed back to our old selves. I was up early, had a good paddle, then came home and finished up the blog with Evie. Both of us wanted to get a walk in so we decided on the closest, easiest, Long Point State Park. We drove over about 10:30, parked our car at the end of Lakeside Drive and enjoyed an hour, three-mile walk through Long Point's trails and forest. A walk in the woods is a great panacea for whatever ails you. We met one other couple but mostly had the paths to ourselves. There are a number of new trails that have been made, illegally I guess, by bike riders from the Warner Bay area. We liked them, as they would wind in and out of the main trails.

A Walk In The Woods (Black Walnut Trail) |
We were home by 12:30, time for lunch, black bean soup and a leftover chicken quesadilla from Saturday night's dinner, FNL, and a nap. It was a perfect day to be on the dock, no rain forecast, so Evie passed on her garden work and went out to enjoy the sun. Around 2:30, I drove off to Lakewood, stopping at Harbor Freight and picked up another bike rack, hoping it will fit my hitch. And I stopped at Briggotti's, hoping they would have local peaches but they were not ripe. And I finished by shopping at Wegman's, getting things for tonight's dinner with our neighbors. Around 5:30, we took wine out on our dock and watched the afternoon sky begin to change. Our neighbor, Jeff, kayaked by and we ended up talking with him for 15 minutes. Around 7:00, we finally had enough and went in to put dinner together. Evie sauteed some mushrooms, made some hash browns from leftover baked potatoes, cooked a steak on a grill pan and made a salad. That was our dinner. Yum.

We watched some news before watching the first episode of The Deuce on HBO. It was written by George Pelecanos, one of my favorite novels and David Simon, creator of The Wire, one of the great TV series. So I was looking forward to it. I stuck with it for an hour but finally had enough. It's overdone, exaggerated as well as extremely vulgar and crude and disgusting. It will be interesting to see what Rotten Tomatoes will say about it. We ended the evening with Vice News, depressing as well, as weather wise, the world seems to be falling apart.
