Tired Of Foggy Mornings

It's 7:30 and I have been up for over an hour and the fog has not moved.  I can see our  dock but that's about it.  It's 59º and we may have some rain later in the day.  I doubt it.

Dahlia Opening
Yesterday was another Indian summer Sunday, as I said, the last weekend of summer.  I took advantage of it by kayaking twice, once in the morning, again in late afternoon.  We had our usual Sunday morning, relaxing until about 10:30 with our coffee, listening to the news programs on Sonos.  We hope to be back to our three season Sunday routine so we started it again yesterday.  We took the boat out and cruised to the Chautauqua Institution for a walk.  During the season, we can hardly find a spot to dock our boat.  Yesterday, we were the only boat docked.  It ended up being warmer than we thought so we both worked up a sweat by the time we circled the grounds.

Leaves Are Changing
It was a beautiful morning walk, as the colors are starting to show and the many varieties of hydrangeas all at their peak.  There had obviously been a wedding on Saturday as the grounds around the Bell Tower were still dominated by tents with pointed roofs, looking almost Middle Eastern.  For once, there seemed to be others like us, out to enjoy the morning.  We were out for about an hour, taking our time, looking at the gardens and homes, always fun.  Everyone seems to try to outdo their neighbor's front yards, so the entire grounds is a delight to walk.  We cruised home, slowing down along Prendergast Point to view the homes before racing home, wind blowing, Evie sitting on the front deck, loving the last few days of summer.

We had our 'big breakfast,' fried eggs, bacon and toasted 'milk bread,' and watched about 20 minutes of CBS Sunday morning.  But it was too nice outside to sit in watching TV so we went out to enjoy the afternoon.  We also did some organizing inside during the afternoon, as we have good friends visiting from Maine for a few days and we want everything spic n span, at least Evie does.  We were tempted to take another boat ride but the lake was really busy until around 4:30 when the weekenders started to head home.  I took advantage of the lull and took a vigorous paddle over to Long Point, fighting the chop on the way home, working up a nice sweat.  When I got home, I took a shower and changed before we had wine time on our front porch.  Sunday evening is our favorite because we used to have to drive home to Ohio when we both worked.  Now we get to stay and enjoy Sunday's and we always acknowledge how fortunate we are.  We did not want to go in for dinner it was so nice but finally, around 7:30, we did.  Dinner was leftover chicken with artichokes and mushrooms from Friday night and we watched all of the Emmy's from 8:00-11:00. We didn't agree with many of the choices, wondering if the judges watched all the programs or just voted by popularity or hype.
