Fog Bound

6:35

7:20
It's 7:00 and Long Point has practically disappeared behind the early morning fog.  I have been up since 6:30 and just looked up to discover the fog had crept in.  It's 39º, the lake's still frozen in front of our house although in some parts, like around the Bemus Point Bridge, it's open

Yesterday turned quickly from a sun-filled morning to a cloudy day, no surprise here at the lake.  Evie had a physical therapy appointment at 10:30 in Mayville, so we had something we had to do in the morning.  I dropped her off and wandered around Mayville before stopping at the Mayville Diner for a coffee and read my book.  Mayville is such a sad town, as most businesses and restaurant or coffee shops have left it, leaving behind a shell of a town despite having the County Court House and Jail.

We stopped at the Lighthouse Grocery on the way home, picked up lunch, a sub and some Utz chips, not the healthiest but may be the tastiest.  When we got home, I decided to get some exercise, went for a walk through our Woodlawn/Victoria woods.  The snow has disappeared, the woods are covered with last falls leaves, yet shoots of green ferns everywhere, as spring slowly awakens.  When I got back, Evie and I had lunch, splitting the sub and having a bowl of lentil soup.

The rest of the afternoon went quickly, some reading, napping and Evie decided to make a yogurt cake, something she has made before, rich yet not too sweet, unlike most Turkish dessert.  The big news of the afternoon was the resignation of Hope Hicks, giving the pundits something else to talk about besides gun control.  And we watched part of Trump's 'attempt' to sit still and to listen to Congressmen as they shared their views on what should be done about gun violence in schools.  He interrupts, looks bored, and acts like he knows it all.  Why should I be surprised?

Dusk Arriving At 6:00
We had our usual glass of wine before dinner, as Evie heated up the leftover moussaka.  Earlier, I had chopped up a couple of beets, parsnips, and carrots and roasted them in the oven so we had them instead of a salad.  Evie loves those roasted beets.  We were not sure what to watch so we decided to watch a series we had like from a few years ago, THE KILLING, created by Veena Sud who also wrote and created the series SEVEN SECONDS which we had just finished on Netflix.  We ended up watching the first three episodes before going to bed.
