Winter Redux

6:35

7:09
Well, I had some trepidation when I woke up this morning, wondering if we would have electricity after a night of snow and howling winds.  We do.  We got probably 6-8 inches of wet snow overnight and it continues to snow as I write this morning at 7:30.  For the first time I can remember, our windows are plastered with wet snow, blocking any view of our yard and lake.  A few more inches may fall today but tomorrow and Sunday we should get sunny days.

Our View At 8:00 AM
Yesterday was a busy day, especially our morning.  I went to breakfast with the guys but because the Bemus Point restaurant was closed for two weeks, we went to the Ashville General Store instead.  They have great breakfasts as well so we were happy, mostly talking about the absurdity of our lack of sensible gun control.  I was home by 9:30 and by 10:00, Evie and I were in the car, driving into Erie for another doctor's appointment.  It ended up being a good appointment as the clinic seemed to have good ideas for alleviating Evie's back pain.  She ended up with a brace which takes the pressure off her back and it seems to have helped.  Along with physical therapy, an epidural scheduled for next week and a few drugs, she seems to be on her way to recovery.  We had planned on shopping at Sam's Club since we were in Erie but we ended up stopping at Wegman's to pick up prescriptions.  We had lunch there and did some shopping so by the time we were done, we had it with shopping and just drove home, the roads still foggy but clear of snow.

Our afternoon went quickly, with the usual, reading, naps and TV and before we knew it, we were driving over to the Seezurh House in a wet snow at 6:30.  As we expected, we were literally the only ones in the bar eating dinner, despite the fact it was steak night, a 12 oz. ribeye, with potato and salad for thirteen bucks.  We met Linda and Ron there and we had not seen them in at least ten days.  Our dinners were great, making us wonder why were the only ones taking advantage of the special.  Most likely the arrival of a snowstorm kept many home.  Evie noticed that we had new beer glasses and because she said she liked them, the four of us walked out of the bar with eight beer glasses, the gift of Robin and our waitress.  Evie was happy.

Snow Last Night
The drive home though short was nail-biting because of the heavy snow, winds, and lack of visibility, making it difficult to avoid the potholes.  We drove slowly, had little traffic, so it went ok.  We were happy to be settled in our TV room, cosy and warm, as the wind howled outside, the snow began to pile up.  We watched more of The Killing before going up to bed.
