More Rain, More Mitch, More Volleyball

Cody, the Intelligent Dog
Up at 6:00, a restless night, as Mitch has to be up at 6:00, at school by 7:00 for some Spanish make up.  It's gray outside, more rain predicted on and off during the day.  Mitch has another volleyball game scheduled today at 4:00, so we will be there, with Marisa again, unless she has soccer practice.  Feeling like the modern Mom, my day dictated by my kids' schedules.
Mitch the Setter
An unusual day for us yesterday, with all the kids in school, parents living it up in Vegas, with nothing we had to do until 3:30. So, what do we do?  Go shopping, that's right, my favorite past time.  We did have some groceries to pick up, admittedly, and I ended up buying something I was looking for, a library reading lamp from Home Goods (it looks like it might last at least a year).  But a large part of our morning was spent at REI.  I returned a jacket, ripped during sledding, thinking I could get a full refund.  The cashier agreed, said he would figure out how to go about the refund,  so I should go shopping, and he would then settle it up.  The jacket was around $120.00, so we both looked around, hoping to spend it all.  When we went to settle with the cashier,  I was told they would not refund my money...guaranteed returns on anything does not count if the jacket was ripped.  So, we put back our goodies, me a new jacket, Evie a cool shirt and went home, deal less, thinking about where we might find clear duck tape to repair my 'guarantee return jacket.'  Bummer.

The Coaches

 Blue Wave in Action

Chicken in tomatillo sauce for lunch, a nap, then Tyler came home from school, hungry and bored.  Evie fed him some mixed fruit and then we went off to Mitch's home volleyball game against Ridgefield, a suburb about forty minutes away. Mitch played some in the varsity game, not getting much action, however, and they loss to a very good team, 3-1.  The junior varsity game was much the same, as they lost 2-0 though both games were close. We met more parents, are beginning to feel like veterans at the games. Marisa had hip hop during the game, and her friend's mom was nice enough to drop her off at the gym, so I met her outside around 6:00.  It's a long day for these teams, especially if you are the visitor.  Fortunately, yesterday and today's games are at home.

We got home around 7:15 and Evie made bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwiches for dinner, with Lays chips, what else.  It was strange not having Beth and Rami around.  Evie got Marisa to bed early, as she had been up late the past couple of nights and was tired.  The boys were tired as well, Tyler from his AP tests, Mitch from volleyball, so they were upstairs by 10:00.

Volleyball today at 4:00, soccer practice for Marisa at 5:15 and that's it for the day.  Easy peasy!
