A Fine Day For A Drive, to Darien, CT, That Is

5:45
6:20

We are both up early, 5:40, because we are driving to Darien today for ten days.  It's a beautiful dawn, pink horizontal clouds, light blue sky, though the sun has not risen yet. It's 47º outside, and it looks like a good day to drive to the East Coast.

Yesterday was another busy day, mostly in the yard, getting it ready for the summer.  We cut both lawns, so they look great for the first time, green and leafless.  I cleaned out the garage, cleaned up some of the dead leaves, and organized it so we could put our car in it when we leave.  Evie finished the lasagna and made cup cakes for the grandchildren, to decorate, like we did in KC, so they will be happy.
Hungry Boys

Way Too Much To Eat

We have the car packed, probably lots more stuff than we will ever need which is typical of the way we pack.  But we always seem to have enough room in the car for one more jacket, or pair of shoes, whatever.  At least we don't have winter to worry about though I was reading that Kansas City was having snow yesterday and today, very strange for them.

For dinner, we had Italian sausages, salad, rice and beans, and cupcakes for dessert.  I am reading a book I really like, finally, THE RELUCTANT FUNDAMENTALIST, and we watched IDOL on TV as well as The Daily Show and Stephen Colbert, the last time for them for awhile although I think both Mitch and Tyler enjoy it.

We want to be on the road by 7:00 or early, getting us to Darien early enough to see Mitchell's volleyball game.  He's a freshmen playing some for the varsity team and we are excited to see him play.

Update,,,we just checked Evie's phone and Beth had called last night to let us know that Mitch had been sick for the past two days so he won't be playing in the volleyball game today.  Rats. We will just have to enjoy all the grandchildren then, an easy task.  We cannot wait to see them, so we will be on the road in fifteen minutes.
