Summer Haze

Hanging Out On Bill And Joyce's Dock

6:45

6:55
I was up at 6:20, to a gray sky, empty lake, and sat here waiting for the sun to rise, to peek through the haze and looked up and there it was, at least part of it, hanging over Long Point, a partial orange globe, half hidden by clouds. And it's not a quiet morning as an annoying duck has been quacking nonstop for the last 15 minutes,.

Squawking

Hanging Out
Yesterday was a day of good intentions gone south.  I was up early, paddled, had breakfast and got ready to go to yoga when Austin arrived to continue his work shoring up our garage.  Because of this, I stayed home and helped out when I could so he would finish early enough to head to his afternoon job.  This mostly meant being a gopher, moving everything on a wall, sweeping up debris, lending a helping hand when needed.  He is the picture of efficiency and high energy as he literally runs from one task to the next.  And he was done by 12:30, tools organized in his truck, extra 2 X 4's piled for when he finishes the last wall.  By the time he left, I was whooped from just following him around like a puppy.

While I was outside, Evie puttered in her garden mostly deadheading and deciding where she wants to move several perennials late this fall.  Around 1:00, Evie browned a couple of Sahlen hotdogs, heated up the leftover beans and I had a good old American lunch, wieners and beans.  And I watched FAUDA, have three more episodes to go in the series.  The afternoon was made for relaxing, either in the house reading and napping for me, or out on the dock for Evie.  I know this sounds like a repeat of our previous days but that's what our life is about, enjoying the outdoors when we can, breaking it up with occasional work either inside or out and trips to the store.

Hitting The Pub With Barb, Our Neighbor
We picked up our neighbor, Barb, at 6:00 and drove off to Greenhurst for the steak special, another Tuesday routine, steaks and beers for thirty bucks, a deal we cannot pass on.  We were lucky to get seats at the bar as I guy literally got up as we looked around and offered us his seat, a third in a row.  The steaks and fries were stellar, the conversation fun, and we were back by 8:15, in time to watch Better Call Saul which is quirky and confusing as ever.  We will stick with it.
