Morning Rain

Yep
8:00

8:05
It's 7:15 and it's been raining since I came downstairs at 6:35, a gentle falling, just enough to hear it hit the roof.  It looks like it may be clearing up some so I may be able to get in a dry paddle. And I did, fighting the wind and waves over to Long Point, easily cruising to Sandy Bottom, then fighting the wind on my way home, a great way to start the day, sky, lake, wind, and me.

Friday was uneventful for the most part and other than yoga at 9:30 with Julie, a good class, I am not sure what else we did.  I know I didn't shop at Wegman's but I did stop at Mike's Nursery and picked up some coneflowers on sale.  Unfortunately, they are not the right colors for Evie's garden (orange!) so we will be returning them today.  It's the thought that counts.  Right.

When I got home around noon, Evie had been busy of course, finding things to do inside.  She had a lunch ready for me, tuna melts with tomatoes and cheese, so I was a happy boy.  We whiled away the rest of the afternoon, Evie on the dock despite the clouds, me reading and napping.  Around 3:00, however, I drove into Mayville to pick up a prescription for Evie.  I also stopped at Evergreen Outfitters, as I was thinking of renting a paddle board to see if I like them.  The ones they showed me cost over a thousand bucks, so I think I will forget about it.  I also stopped at the farmer's market, was tempted to buy some local tomatoes but was given a taste and decided against it.  No flavor, just like most tomatoes from the grocery store.

When I returned home, we were at sixes and sevens as to dinner, so I made the big decision.  We were going to the Viking Club for a fish fry.  We left at 6:00, found a seat at the bar and enjoyed a beer before deciding it would be too long of a wait for a table, so we left for Bemus, went to the Casino, easily found a seat at the bar, had another beer, of course, and shared 15 wings with fries. It was a good choice as the wings were excellent, the Casino half empty on a Friday night, most likely because of the cloudy skies, the possibility of rain, which would discourage boaters from coming.

We were home in time to watch Real Time with Bill Maher, always alarming because of its anti-Trump guests, often conservative Republicans who fear the Trump and Koch Brothers Agenda to remake America to their liking.  One example, they want to balance the budget by getting rid of entitlements like Social Security and Medicare, both safety nets for the elderly.  It's fine if you are a billionaire, but a large majority of Americans depend on it.  Not the kind of show that lends itself to a restful night's sleep.
