Calm And Quiet...Ah, Early Mornings

 It's a spectacular early morning, lots of sunshine, a calm lake, steam rising off towards Bemus Bay and a chilly 52º.  I was up at 5:30, with the fishing guys, but I am listening to MSNBC's chatter and working on my blog. It was such a great morning that I paddled for over an hour. I watched a heron fishing; he stood by the water's edge, took four quick steps forward, then dove, head first into the water and came up with a fish.  Cool.  No photograph, unfortunately. 

Fishing By The Reeds At Long Point

Yesterday morning was typical, as I kayaked, went to breakfast in Bemus with the guys, then drove to Yin Yoga at 9:30.  No errands, no groceries, so I headed straight home.  Evie had my soup out and I had a leftover sub from Wednesday, so I had a quick lunch and took a brief nap since I had been up since 5:00 and we were driving to Erie at 1:30.

I had a doctor's appointment at 2:30, with a rheumatologist, a new experience for me in my seeming quest to have an appointment with every kind of specialist.  I actually liked the guy, and he spent a good half hour with me although I must admit to talking quite a bit about pro basketball as he grew up in Philadelphia following Wilt and the 76er's.  While I was at my appointment, Evie was browsing Sam's Club in Erie, happy to be shopping with no time limit, no husband to say let's get out of here.  I picked her up probably a good hour and a half to two hours after dropping her off.  She had a cart groaning with food and stuff, of course, but I had enough room for it in my Outback.

We were home by 4:30, brought in all the groceries, then both of us got busy putting together a kitchen stool which Evie had bought at Sam's.  It was made in China, so putting it together was a challenge but between the two of us, we did it.  And Evie loves it...now she can sit down in the kitchen and prep dinners.  I have to admit it looks nice, seems perfect for the kitchen because it fits under the island.  And best of all, it was cheap, thirty bucks.  Where can you get a stool, with a leather seat for that price?

Dinner was a portion of a huge Sam's Club roasted chicken, at least twice the size of the chickens at the Lighthouse Grocery and cheaper.  I just wish they had not closed the Sam's Club here at the lake.  Evie made some mashed potatoes and gravy to go with the chicken, as well as a salad and roasted asparagus.  So dinner was quick, easy and delicious, a perfect combination.  We watched Colbert, then started the second season of a crime thriller called MARCELLA.  We watched the first season a couple of years ago but have no knowledge of having viewed it.  And so it goes.
