The Viking Club Wednesday Evening, Breakfast Thursday Morning

6:45
7:05
7:08
Another bright, sunny morning on the lake, blue skies, a few srtands of clouds hang over the eastern shore and it's warming up some, at last, a 37ยบ at the moment, perhaps in the high 50's by the end of the day, but we cannot get too comfortable, as snow is forecast for Saturday.

Yesterday morning was easy, another spectacular sunrise, no snow, clear roads, and yoga in Lakewood, with as many guys this time as gals, six of us.  I skipped coffee at Ryders, having had my fill early morning, but I did stop at Sherwin Williams for the fifth time in a week.  We are getting to know each other well.  This time I returned a few things, bought some caulk and a sandpaper block for roughing up the trim.  I am beginning to feel more than guilty over the fact that I am off playing at yoga while Evie is home working but I am sure I will get over it.  Guys are good at this.

We had leftover chicken picata for lunch  and watched a couple of Daily Shows.  Evie was more than happy to take time off from her work.  I have to admit that she is doing a great job, sticks with it, and we will have an amazing looking upstairs in a week when the painting is finished.  I did help some, working on mirrors, sanding, things like that but also took a great nap, nothing like it.  It was a sunny afternoon, one where we should have been out hiking/walking but when there's a project, your normal routines are thrown to the wind and the project takes over.  We have not been out hiking since we got back from Darien at the beginning of the month.  Tempus fugit.
Sun Set From Viking Club
We did have a goal for the day, one that kept Evie working, a beer and dinner at the Viking Club. We have become Wednesday night regulars, enjoying the company and menu, Wings and Things. Around 5:30, we both showered and got cleaned up, which always energizes both of us and drove to the Viking around 6:30.  Fortunately, there were still two seats at the bar, which we quickly occupied. And within seconds, the bartender, Jeff, had a Labatts and Bud Light sitting in front of us.  I am not sure it's a good sign when you don't even have to order at a bar!  Anyways, we recognized some of the people at the bar, got to know briefly a couple from Lakewood, and Evie talked with two older women, both in their late 70's, who we got to know a couple of weeks ago.  They come for the sunset and a Manhattan.   I ordered stuffed haddock, the cooks recommendation and Evie had a Viking burger.  I will only say that next time I will order a Viking Burger.

Teresa and Greg Fish
The last hour we struck up a conversation with a couple, Teresa and Greg Fish.  We have said aloha to them a couple of times, both at the Viking and when we were out kayaking a few years ago when they were building a new house on the lake front in Magnolia.  They just returned from a week in Ft. Myers, Florida, an area we used to visit in the 1980's so we had lots to talk about, how it had changed dramatically, all but the hotel, the Lani Kai, which catered, even back in the 1980's, to the spring break college kids.  It's usually wall to wall with guys with beers, gals in bikinis.  They stayed at a place called the Lighthouse Resort Inn and Suites, run by a couple who also work at a local restaurant here in Stow, Hadley Bay, a small world.  We enjoyed them and hope to get together when it warms up.  We were home by 9:00, in time to rush through American Idol, yes, we like American Idol before going up to read around 10:30.  A busy day ended up being lots of fun, thanks to the Viking Club and the people we have met there over the past couple of months.
