Long Point

7:05
Up at  6:20, the view the same as yesterday at this time though no fishermen have yet to appear, as it's a week day morning.  It's cold outside, 21ยบ, will remain in the twenties the rest of the day but by the end of the week, it will be in the forties.  Is Spring on its way?  We hope not yet.

Yesterday was an amazing day, as we had snow flurries on an off most of the day, with four or five inch total.  But every time we looked outside, there seemed to be a light snow.  We decided we had to go for a hike somewhere interesting, so we decided on Long Point Park, convenient and it should be fun, walking through the snow covered pines and it was.  Evie snow shooed and I cross country skied for over an hour and even on a Sunday, late morning, we were the only ones in the woods.  The trails had been groomed for snow mobiles and there were numerous cross country ski tracks, from earlier in the day I suppose.  We did not see any snow mobiles as we skied, though we heard them down around the Marina.  In the the bay, at least twenty guys were out fishing; last year it might have been fifty.  The walk was exhilarating though cold and we cut it short, deciding not to walk out to the tip of Long Point because of the wind.  Still, we enjoyed it and when we are in the park, not on the shore line, we are protected from the bitter northwesterly wind.  We came home and Evie made breakfast, eggs, bacon, and toast and we watched Sunday Morning.
Pumpkin Rolls

For some reason, our afternoon felt like a Sunday, a day of leisure (though most of our days are like a Sunday), luxurious with nothing we had to do.  I sat in front of the fireplace, enjoying my book THE ROUND HOUSE, and Evie got inspired and put together the makings for pumpkin rolls.  We did not go back outside though it was inviting.  We just felt cosy and happy and warm in our house.  For dinner, we had chicken picata, rice, and Evie's rolls, a treat, and ended our meal with the last of our Portage Pie.  We both commented that we were going to have to do that again, buy a raspberry pie.  We watched "We Bought A Zoo," a predictable but fun movie with Matt Damon in a very different role.  We ended the night with 'The Good Wife,' wondering why series we like tend to degrade over time or do they just have 'off episodes,' like people have off days.  I hope the latter and can remember how are attitude toward Mad Men vacillated over the years, loving it, then being bored, then loving it again.
Snow Flakes At Night

Because of the new layer of snow, we are going to skip yoga and the Y and drive to the Audubon Center and Sanctuary and cross country ski their grounds.
