It's 7:40, a quiet, calm gray morning of 30º. Snow still sits on most roofs although it's beginning to melt on lawns, especially ours. So far, no ducks or geese, or boats have ruffled the placid lake surface. It's now 9:00 and I paddled for forty five minutes, over to Long Point, across to Sandy Bottom and home. I saw few waterfowl and even though it was below freezing, only my hands got cold.
Kayak Morning |
Yesterday was a sad football Sunday for Buffalo Bills fans, as the Bills seemed to give the game away in regulation, then again in overtime, to the dismay of Buffalo and everywhere. The day started out with a combination of snow and drizzle but I was able to get in a decent paddle although it was colder than I expected. I was back by 8:45 and Evie was up, playing Wordle, part of her morning routine.
We continued our organizing for our trip but Evie also decided to give the house a good fall cleaning before we leave so she was very busy and I was mostly in the way or reading. Around 11:00, however, it was time for a hair cut so I was quickly sheared of my hair, then showered and shaved, came out looking like a young boy again. We did have a big breakfast just as the Bills game was starting, a Turkish omelet and a bagel. We watched the first half of the game, then I read and napped and Evie started on the second bathroom. By 3:30, we both were in the TV room watching the depressing second half and overtime of the Bills game. It wasn't over until 5:00 our time.
We did have a happy hour before dinner, enjoying the last of our brie and blue cheese and crackers. For dinner, Evie had put together an old recipe, a combo of potatoes, onions, and sweet Italian sausage. Bake it for an hour, then another 15 minutes to btrown and we had dinner. It was easy and tasty and we watched a couple of old shows and some of Sunday night football before going to bed.
