Frozen Lake Life

It's another cold morning, the temperature in the high teens but it has not discouraged the ice fishermen.  A group of five or six tents is already out in the middle of the lake, out from Victoria. We received maybe another inch or two of snow overnight, just enough to need shoveling.

We were happy to start the week with a frozen lake and the whiteness of winter.  So far, the snow the past two weeks has been consistent, with no big melts.  We love it as well as the gradual accumulation like last night's couple of inches.  My day started early, with coffee and then I put together a bread recipe which because I did not follow the recipe, ended up being a disaster.  I will leave it at that.  After breakfast and the blog, I had the bright idea of driving over to the Long Point Bathhouse, parking our car, and cross country skiing along the east side of the lake, past Warner Bay up to Sunset Bay and back.  It was a good choice as the wind did not bother us and we were able to view new neighborhoods from the lake.  We skied just over a mile and a half but were out for over an hour.

Other than cross country skiing, we had no big plans for the day, no appointments, no need to shop. On Sunday, Evie made a pot of cauliflower soup so I had that for lunch along with avocado toast.  I watched my show, then read some and napped.  I finished The Children's Bible and started another book I have been wanting to read but never got to it called Pachinko, a National Book Award Finalist in 2017, by Min Jin Lee. 

We were tempted to get back out on the lake but decided it might be too much.  So after a leisurely afternoon, Evie prepped our dinner, pounding out port cutlets, breading them, and letting them rest until it was time for dinner.  By 6:00, we were hungry and the baked potatoes were about done so Evie fried up the Wienerschnitzel, made a salad, another batch of applesauce, and we had dinner.  It was one of those nights where we both loved dinner and both went back for seconds. We watched a Colbert, some news then tried a new Fench series on Netflix about a master thief called Lupin.  We liked it enough to watch the first two episodes before ending the night with a Home Town and Better Things,
