Chillin On A 16º Morning

7:30

7:32

7:36

It's 8:20 as I start this and we are both up, having both slept in some.  It's Saturday after all.  Despite the cold, the sunrise and blue skies early must have encouraged the ice fishermen because it's a village out there already.

9:12 Yesterday

Friday morning Evie got started early, after coffee and the blog by putting together the dough for black bread, a combination of rye and white flour with cocoa, molasses, caraway seeds, and espresso.  While it rose, we decided to snowshoe the trails of Long Point, an easy drive and always fun. We took the back twenty and ended up having to power our way through some foot-deep snow. By the time we were done, we had snowshoed almost three miles, not what I had planned on but we did it.

Long Point

In The Pines

We did not get home until 1:00 and I finished the last of the cauliflower soup along with that old standby, peanut butter, and jelly sandwiches.  I forget about how good they are (thanks for the reminder, Joyce.)  I started a new series on Prime Video, a Welsh cop show called Bang.  It looks decent, more about the lives of the cops than the killer or killers.  For me, it was another lazy afternoon, reading, napping, and occasionally washing some dishes.  For Evie, it was baking the black bread, then putting together an apple pie.

Bob Marley And Kim Jong-Un?

Five Is Enough

Both were out of the oven by 5:00, so we could relax with a cocktail, popcorn, and Boursin cheese, as the sky darkened, the fishing huts collapsed and the guys trekked home.  When it got dark, lights of snowmobiles would appear in Bemus Bay, then disappear as they cruised up the lake.  Dinner was the leftover meatballs from Wednesday, with pasta and of course, the black bread smothered in butter. And, of course, we had apple pie for dessert to round out the day,  We watched our usual, nothing new, and went to bed happy with our day.
