Windy And Wild

7:26

7:59

Woke to a howling wind at 5:30, a darkened lake but coffee was in sight.  It's now 7:40 and it's too windy to kayak, the lake rough, the lakefront of our house littered with mallards, diving for weeds in the lake. After tiring of the same news over and over, I listened to a Bill Simmons podcast on the sports world, a relief, always, from politics.  The big news, Giannis signs with Milwaukee Bucks for 228 million over five years.

Walking Out To Tom's Point

Fields And Clouds

Tuesday was not much different from previous days, with lots of gray skies, a similar routine during the day, ending, however,  with a fun dinner and early evening.  I did manage to paddle despite the gray and changing wind.  Neither of us as in much of a hurry to do anything other than finish up the blog.  Finally, around 11:00, we decided to get outdoors and go for a walk.  I was bored with our usual walks, so Evie suggested walking out to Tom's Point, a short two miles away.

Tom's Point

So we parked behind Hogan's Hut and walked out to the tip of Tom's Point, a point I often kayak to during the warm months.  It ended up being a pleasant walk, a different kind of wilderness, fields of harvested corn bristles,  scrub, and piles of deadfall out towards the point. We also explored the development next to the Powerboat Club, Bootey Bay, as the land has been cleared, electricity, sewers, and water put in, ready for some kind of development.

Bootey Bay Development

We did not get home until 1:00 and I was hungry, of course, and Evie made me a couple of toasted cheese sandwiches and heated up the cauliflowers soup so I was happy.  I am still watching Undercover, not sure when it will end.  I then started reading The Bear, as civilization has ended, and two people remain, a young girl and her father.  I did nap briefly, then went into the TV room to watch the Browns game but I had forgotten to save it.  I should have done yoga or went out for a walk but the couch was too enticing so I read and surfed the net, looking for something interesting to read until it was time to drive to Linda and Ron's.

We were a little late because we had to avoid what looked like a traffic accident with traffic stopped both ways.  When we drove into their driveway, the garage door was open, tables and chairs set up, and the walls were decorated for Christmas,

Nice And Cozy

So we sat down, still bundled in coats, hats, and gloves despite a couple of heaters, and enjoyed a couple of mugs of mulled wine with freshly popped popcorn. We were happy.  Once we had our fill of popcorn,  Linda served up bowls of piping hot beef and barley soup, warming and delicious.  We stayed until 8:30 then headed home chilled but happy and full.  It was a fun way to have dinner safely and together.

We quickly put on more comfortable clothes and settled down in the TV room to watch the last episode of Little Fires Everywhere.  The ending was satisfying, and we ended up liking the series more than we thought.  It's worth watching.
