Cloudy And Shades Of Gray

Volunteer Fire Department's Santa Claus

7:46

It's the beginning of the week and it looks like we will miss the major storm as it's south and east of us.  The sky and lake were dark and gray, inviting actually, because of the calmness of the lake.  I kayaked for half an hour, effortlessly, down to Sandy Bottom and back,

Sunday was a day of football, like the old days, when everyone sat around watching the Browns lose another one.  It started late, with my not getting up till 7:20, with little interest in kayaking.  Feeling guilty, however, I paddled for forty minutes, wrote the blog and had breakfast before we decided to walk despite the wet snow or because of it because Evie loves walking in the snow.  We drove to the Chautauqua Institution, fast becoming our easy go-to place, and walked up and down various streets, getting in close to two miles.  No one was out; we were the only ones, walking in light rain with an occasional snowflake.

We started late so we did not get home until 1:00, with thoughts of a Turkish omelet in our heads.  By 1:15, we were both enjoying CBS Sunday morning, enjoying our menemens with toast.  After our show, I watched the first quarter of the Kansas City Chiefs game before giving up and reading and napping briefly.  Meanwhile, Evie was working on setting up Instacart with Wegmans, as usual, no easy task. The app seems to always request a new password and once that's done, it erases whatever Evie has in her cart.  We think it is up and working and I will find out tomorrow morning when I pick up our groceries before 9:00 in the morning,

We sat in the TV room much of the late afternoon, watching the Chiefs, fast-forwarding through the commercials.  Evie worked on Christmas cards on her Felt App and occasionally would glance up when the Chiefs scored a touchdown.

Around 5:30, after relaxing with a glass of wine, we were already getting hungry so Evie began to get dinner ready,  searing the scallops and making a sauce to put over them.  I joined her and did up the dishes, at times, however, getting in her way.

We had our scallops with linguini and were happy to have our work done for the day (except dishes).  We enjoyed our dinner and watched a couple more episodes of Midnight Dinner and then two more episodes of Little Fires Everywhere, predictable but getting better.  We finished the night with a boring first quarter of the Bills/Steelers game.  Both teams looked atrocious on offense, and they could hardly make a first down.
