A Foggy Morning Welcome

7:15
I slept soundly till 6:00, noticed there was light in the bedroom and knew it was time to get up.  I was, however, surprised by the fog which still lingers at 7:20.  It's 61º and when I checked the rain gauge, we received close to an inch and a half over the past 12 hours, as much as we received in the five days we were in Virginia.

We left our daughter Jill's house around 6:50, earlier than we expected but both of us were awake by 6:00 so we just packed up and hit the road again.  We stopped as usual at Shawnee Springs Market, filled up with gas and Evie bought the last six peaches.  We had an uneventful drive, not quite as stunning as the sunny day five days ago but at least no heavy storms. We did drive through a half hour of rain as we headed up to Warren, PA.  We stopped in the rain at Wendy's for a change and were home within the hour.

We were excited to get home, always, even though we had a great time in Virginia.  As usual, I emptied the car as Evie checked out her garden, growing fast, the yard and the dock.  We actually did not have that much baggage and most of it was from Trader Joes.  We quickly put things away and then collapsed on the couches for a while, tired from our seven-hour drive.  By 4:30, however, I was out in the yard picked up deadfall from last week's heavy winds and a plethora of goose droppings, as they obviously took advantage of our travels and found our yard a pleasant grazing place.  Evie soon joined me, powered up the Honda mower and off she went, cutting our lawn before the rains began around 6:00.

Dinner was thawed pizza and a salad so we were able to enjoy a glass of wine after our showers.  It was delicious to sit in our living room with a glass of wine and listen to the rain  We watched James lose for the first time on Jeopardy, a sad day as the following day's show was just not the same.  We then watched the first episode of Chernobyl on HBO, which emphasizes the lies which our institutions tell us to save face.  Sound familiar?  We ended the night with the first quarter of the NBA game before we both were tired and went up to bed at 10:00.
