A Fall Sky Morning

I was up just after 6:00 to an overcast sky which soon opened to blue skies, sunshine and puffy white clouds.  It's 51ยบ and quite windy at times, with the sun's reflection on the lake almost blinding.  Could it be a nice day?  I did get out on the lake although it was windy, 15-20 mph gusts, making it difficult to get over to Long Point and back.

Kayak Morning
A Morning Heron On A Dock
Yesterday I got a paddle in even though it rained, then made it to breakfast with the guys before driving to yoga in Lakewood.  My Thursdays don't change much.  Evie has wanted an umbrella on our dock but we could not find one with a heavy enough base which also could be bolted or screwed to the deck to stand up to the wind.  I stopped at Walmart and found what I think will work and had to go to the Ace Hardware to find a couple of pipe/hose brackets to hold the base down.  I did not get home until 12:45.

Evie had a meatloaf sandwich ready for me before driving off for a big shopping afternoon, at TJ's, Wegman's, and Walmart because it was going to be a wet afternoon.  In fact, we received a half inch in the afternoon and overnight, another inch so our yard and garden are wetlands this morning.  I wasted the afternoon, getting caught up on a couple of Bosch's.  I felt guilty just sitting in the TV room watching a show but it was raining out so I couldn't get outside and do something,

We planned on going to the Viking Club for dinner. So after Evie returned from shopping, we put everything away and drove over to the Viking Club just as it was starting to pour once again.  The club was packed because they were having a gathering of the officers from many of the 49 Viking Lodges in the US.

A Busy Viking Club Bar
We, fortunately, found a seat at the bar next to a couple of regulars and friends, Randy and Karen, so we had a fun time talking with them.  Dinner was a chicken barbecue, a half of chicken with macaroni and potato salad, along with coleslaw for 12 bucks, a deal.  We finished our dinner with a dessert of popcorn, Evie's favorite before heading home around 8:00, in time to watch a Colbert and the first half of the NBA game.  I saw this morning that the Raptors won, a big upset but they deserved it.  They had a couple of players that I had never heard of who played a couple of game's of their lives, playing up to a team with three if not four All-Stars.  It's always nice to see underdogs win and it's especially nice because it's a first for a Canadian team.
