A Dusting Of Snow, A Heavy Fog, And SMACKDABBED

7:55
Another nondescript morning of fog, so heavy that I can hardly see beyond the first twenty yards of the lake.  The fog results from the cold ground, the frozen lake and the warm 32º temperatures.

Saturday was an ugly winter day, melting snow, slush, occasional light rain or wet  snow, and dirty snow banks.  This is why I would head South, not the snow but what happens when winter warms up. Most of the day I am embarrassed to admit was spent in front of the television, watching most of three basketball games.  Before the games began at noon, however,  I did accomplish something.  Our front yard had quite a bit of dead fall, from the heavy winds the past few days, so it took me a half hour to clean up the yard and dispose of the debris.  I then drove to the Transfer Station about 11:30 and for the first time, I was the only car there.  It pays to get there late I guess.

I was home in time to see the start of the first game.  For lunch, I had some matzo ball soup and a bagel with cream cheese and tomato.  While I was wasting away watching basketball, Evie was making a shopping list, putting on her workout clothes before driving off to shop at Wegman's and work out at the YMCA unlike her sloth of a husband.

I soon tired of the commercials, so I taped two games, adjourned to the living room to read and soon took a good hour nap.  I then returned to the TV room and was able to watch the rest of the West Virginia/Notre Dame game without commercials as well as most of the game that followed, the Wisconsin/Villanova game.  And then at 4:15, just as Evie was getting home, I watched some of the Northwestern/Gonzaga game before getting ready to go out for dinner at the Rod and Gun.

SMACKDAB
We were excited about going out to eat at The Rod and Gun Club because our favorite local rock band, SMACKDAB, was supposedly playing at 9:00.  This was unusual because most of their bands are oldies but goodies types, not modern music.  So we waited until 7:15 to head off, so we were not too early for the 9:00 start.  We sat at the bar for a half hour, drinking a beer and  gambling like the rest of the patrons.  For once, we walked away with a ten dollar win, not a loss.

Enjoying One Of Our Three Clubs
As we sat down to eat, we noticed there was no band setting up.  We talked to the waitress and she said that they had not heard a word from SMACKDAB, so they were not playing.  We were severely disappointed but stayed for a prime rib dinner which was great.  Evie knew that we followed SMACKDAB on Facebook, so she wrote them the note that follows and their follow up: a true SMACKDAB groupie.

We did not get home until 9:15, taking our time as it was foggy out.  And we quickly got out of our dancing clothes, into our PJ's and watched the end of The Fall, Season Two, before going up to bed, disappointed with our evening.
