Another Foggy Morning On the Lake With The Eptings

7:07
9:15
We all were up by 7:15, just as the sun should have been rising but because of the fog, we had to wait until it rose about the fog.  It looks like a great day, even week, sunny and clear through Sunday, temperatures in the 70's, the kind of week we have been waiting for all summer.  At the moment, the fog has moved in so thick that we cannot see beyond the dock.

Yesterday was another rainy day, but all of us enjoyed it, us because we have not had much rain this summer, Rick and Carolyn because they are from California where it almost never rains.  We mostly sat around talking about our days in Istanbul through our morning coffee and breakfast, watching it rain off and on, even sitting outside on our front porch to get a front seat view.

Enjoying Southern Tier Benefit For St. Susan's Center
By 1:00, however, we were ready to drive off to the Southern Tier Brewery, where they were having an Octoberfest to benefit St. Susan's Center which feeds the poor in Jamestown.  We were there by 1:30, just as the sun came out.  We had some difficulty finding a place to park because it was so crowded, a good thing.  We tried to find a table outside, where the band was playing, the food stands were set but we eventually sat inside in the pub which was fine.  We ordered beers and got some brats from the St. Susan stands, and enjoyed them, and people watched as we listened to the band.  We ended up buying some dehydrated soups from a guy we met during our hop picking, as well as a few pieces of coconut cake and a beer glass for Evie.  It was a nice way to spend the afternoon and the weather, for once, cooperated.

Carolyn And Linda Porchin' It
We were home by 4:00, in time to see the rain return.  We all were tired from staying up late and getting up early, so Rick and I took naps, and the girls relaxed.  Around 5:30, Evie started putting the moussaka together, and I shucked some corn, and we then enjoyed some leisure with a glass of wine before sitting down to dinner.  The moussaka could have been straight out of a Turkish Lokanta, piping hot and delicious, with just a little olive oil.  We had a great salad, bread and corn, so it was a perfect meal for us Istanbulites.

Another Turkish Dinner
We then looked at photos for a couple of hour of our trip to Turkey in 2009 on our TV, and it was not only a trip back in time, but one filled with nostalgia for all of us.  Both of our seven years in Turkey were perhaps the ones with remember most from our past 50 years together.  We ended up watching the last half hour of the Emmy's before going up to bed.

And, finally, Happy Birthday to my wife, Evie.  LOL (lots of love)
