Sun And Ice

6:32
6:52
It looks like a beautiful spring like day.  So far, blue skies, a striking sunrise, a warm 32º, with sun predicted for the rest of the day, temperatures getting into the 50's in the afternoon.

Yesterday was a quiet Sunday, like most of our Sundays during the winter.  It was chilly out even though we had lots of sun, perfect for taking a walk.  We could not  make up our mind where to go so we put off our walk until later morning.  We finally drove to the Chautauqua Institution, hoping the roads would be devoid of ice.  They were for the most part.  It was great walking weather, in the high 20's, just cold enough to keep us moving.  Work is progressing on the new Amphitheater, as they have torn off the back of the stage, exposing a huge wall of brick.  They have cut down lots of trees around the back and enclosed the entire area is fenced off.  The weather seems to be cooperating so I assume they are on schedule.  We walked three and a half miles, taking us over an hour, so we felt righteous when we got home.  We did something active.

The rest of the afternoon we kept to our Sunday routine, a big breakfast of eggs, bacon and toast as we watched CBS Sunday Morning.  And Evie put together the maple syrup flavored pizza dough for a new pizza recipe.  We then did little of substance the rest of the afternoon, watching some basketball or junk TV, reading, taking a nap, waiting for wine time.  It arrived around 5:30, as we relaxed with a glass, amazed at the late sunset, now  at 6:45, leaving early evening in twilight, another sign of spring's eminent arrival.

Pizza Ready
Earlier in the week, I had found an interesting pizza recipe on The Splendid Table's website and Evie thought it looked good as well, a Balsamic Caramelized Onion Pizza With Arugula and A Drizzle of Maple Syrup.  Sound good?  It was although I was surprised that the bitterness of the arugula, which you add after the pizza comes out of the oven, was not more pronounced.  By the way, we both had seconds and thirds, leaving a measly piece or two for my lunch. We then caught up on the OJ mini series,  most interesting to those of us who remember the trial; it's deja vu all over again, as Yogi Berra would say.  Then we binge watched three more episodes of HOUSE OF CARDS.  More riveting than the previous episodes, with a shocker in episode four...be prepared.
