A Relaxed and Shimmering Lake

Family Weekend At Dartmouth College: Beth, Tyler, Ramiro, Marisa
The Fantastic Fox's
Up a few minutes before 6:00, sat waiting for the sun to rise over Long Point till  6:15, a few light clouds in an otherwise clear sky.  It looks like a fine day, sunny most of the day, a good day to walk or kayak.  It's now 7:00, the lake looks inviting, almost summer like with its calm, a few wrinkles, the sun bright.  A fawn just ran across our front yard; I tried to take a photo but my movement in the house scared him away, up into the Victoria woods.

We had a slow Sunday, doing little other than just reading, taking it easy, no projects on a day of rest. We did walk the Chautauqua Institute around 10:00, and we wore rain jackets though it never did rain, despite the forecast.  The CI is perking up, some color from the spring flowers, more people on the narrow streets, out for a walk like us.  Slowly, the CI is coming back to life until it blooms in late June when it opens.  It was chilly starting out, but by the time we got to the north end, we unzipped our jackets, too warm as usual.  Lots of small construction jobs are in progress, only two entirely new houses that I can recall.  The Purell House seems finished except for the yard and walks, still a mess of mud.  And the inside has yet to be furnished, something that will take place in the next month or two I suppose.

We were home by noon, for a good breakfast and CBS Sunday Morning.  I was really into my book, ASTONISH ME, in fact,  I finished it last night just before bed.  We could not make up our mind about dinner.  It was one of those days where nothing sounds good and we did not want to go out.  So, we decided on a stir fry, with the leftover rice, so Evie got out a single chicken breast, sliced it in thin strips and marinated it in soy, ginger and garlic. Around 5:30, she had all the veggies and mushrooms chopped, stir fried them, separately, then put the chicken and veggies and sauces, hot bean, soy, sesame oil and siracha,  together with the rice for a stir fry/fried rice extravaganza, just what the doctor ordered on a Sunday night.

Sunday is always a good night for TV, so we have to be sure to save certain programs like Mad Men for Monday, watch others at the right time.  Somehow we manage to forget to tape something but fortunately, most programs are rerun somewhere or are available On Demand.  We watched Charlie Rose interview Kevin Spacey...he was also interviewed on CBS Sunday Morning.  He mentioned a book he loved called DIFFICULT MEN, about all the male anti heroes from TV over the past 15 years, guys like Tony Soprano, Walter White, Dexter, and Don Draper.  It sounded interesting so I looked it up on the Chautauqua Library website, saw it was available , downloaded it and was reading it last night before I went to bed.  How wonderful technology can be.
