Sunny And In The 80's Day # 3

Woodlawn And Victoria From Mitchell's Drone
6:20
Another clear morning, bright sunrise, empty lake so far, as I sip my coffee and enjoy the quiet of morning.  I was up just after the sun rose at 6:18, the light filling the room as I walked downstairs.  It's 68º already and will be another warm one.  The weather the past few weeks makes me feel as if I am living in Florida, the sunshine state.  Where went Chautauqua gray?

Chautauqua Morning Kayaking With Tommy
Yesterday started out with an hour kayak paddle, with my son Tommy, over to Tom's Point and back.  It was a good workout, he suggested, for his shoulders but it did not stop both Mary and him from going to the gym after we got back.  What discipline.  Meanwhile, everyone was up by the time we returned, having a light breakfast, bagels and cereal for the girls, omelets for Beth and the boys.

Since some were off to the gym and we had no excursions planned for the day, Beth and I took both Marisa and Marlena to Ryder's Cup for a frozen hot chocolate, their favorite summer and winter drink.  We ran into Joe, one of my breakfast buddies, and they met some of the regulars.  We the went off to a funky clothing store called Creative Imports, which has lots of clothing and jewelry from all over the world.  It's fun to browse but we rarely end up buying anything which was the case yesterday.  The girls are good at saving their money.

Not much of import happened the rest of the day.  Evie spent most of it out on the dock or cutting weeds, joined off and on by the girls, or the adults, but none had her staying power.  It was warm early afternoon, a dead calm kind of afternoon but by 3:00, a breeze developed making it much more pleasant to sit outside.  Around 4:00 Evie came in and played some bean bag with Marisa as her partner and losing to Nick and Marlena in three games; Mitch and I took some weeds up the hill.

Good Friends
Some old friends from the 80's stopped by, the Greens, and we invited them to come along to the Casino for wings.  So just before 6:00, we boated over to the Casino and met them there.  We probably had wings with them the last time in the early 80's, when both of our daughters were classmates at Western Reserve Academy.  We of course had lots of things to talk about, many mutual friends, and it was fun to learn what was up with their daughters and sons, all of whom I either taught or coached.  After wings, we walked as usual to get ice cream at the Bemus Point Market, always crowded, and then we took a leisurely boat ride home, enjoying the sunset.

We then relaxed, either with our devices, watching the USA's women's soccer team playing New Zealand or playing Telefunky until it was time to go to bed.  It sounded good to all of us except the boys who stayed up until who knows how late.  We can usually gauge how late by what time they get up.

Today we are off to Barcelona beach, on Lake Erie, to swim, walk the beach, gather rocks, fly the drone and have lunch at Jack's Barcelona Drive in.
