A Mixed Morning Sky

7:05  Smooth Sailing for Bud

7:15
Lots of clouds, with the sun breaking through occasionally to light up the lake with its glory.  Bass boats appeared around 6:15, a couple of ski boats around 6:30, our neighbor's sailboat about 7:00, and just now, a couple of kayaks just passed by our dock.  It looks like a busy morning on the lake early, hoping to get some boat time in before the predicted thundershowers.  I should be out there right now.

Yesterday was another warm one, so we had the air conditioner on most of the day, what wimps.  We have used it more this summer than the rest of our summers put together.  I did kayak early, swim, then relaxed for much of the day while Evie kept busy for part of the day.

My only excursion of the day was to Mayville just before lunch to pick up a few prescriptions at the drug store.  When I got home, Evie was already out on the dock, enjoying the brief sunshine under the umbrella.  She would be driven in twice during the afternoon because of thundershowers but then it would clear up and she could go out again.  I had leftover Indian food for lunch, watched some more of the Olympics, mostly volleyball although I did watch the amazing 10,000 meter performance by a woman from Ethiopia, who broke the world record by 17 seconds and passed some of the runners twice.  Wow.

Around 5:00, we finally forced ourselves to take a final swim and shampoo and come in and get ready for dinner at the Rod and Gun Club.  We were worried it might be busy and boy was it.  All three parking lots were full.  Luckily, I got the last place in the far lot, and Evie, too, found two seats at the packed bar.  We had a couple of beers, and, fortuitously, waited only a half and hour and had our fish fry within ten minutes of sitting down.  Once we got in the dining room, the service was great.  We had our same waitress, loved our fish fries and were in our car heading home by 7:45.  We must have missed a thunderstorm because the streets were wet with puddles and our neighbor, Joyce, texted Evie a picture of a rainbow in front of our houses, taken while we were gone.

We watched another Bill Maher Real Time program and one more episode of HBO's THE NIGHT OF, a good way to end the day.

And today is our granddaughter Marisa's 13th birthday, as she becomes a teenager.  We miss her dearly.
13 Years Old!
