Walking A Dog at 4:45 |
Yesterday we felt extremely lazy and tired, probably from our wild weekend, especially Saturday night when we went out for dinner and a movie. Far out. Evie and I had the house to ourselves in the morning, as everyone was out and busy. Evie did some wash, and I cleaned up the kitchen, nothing too serious, just a picking up of stuff. Beth was back by noon, so we had lunch of pizza and a salad in the sun room and watched some TV.
Evie was making chicken picata for dinner and needed some vermouth, so I drove off to the wine store, picked up some as well as a bottle of a French rose which we like. The wine store just happened to be next to a donut/coffee shop which I like, so I picked up some donuts or sinkers as we used to call them in college, and brought them home for a snack for Marisa and Mitch. Mitch ate a half, despite his wheat allergy and Marisa ate the other donut and a half, a happy girl. Late afternoon, I took Cody out for his second walk of the day, just at that hour when the sun is dropping, making it impossible to see when walking up the road because it's so bright.
Around 5:30, we opened the French rose and Evie began sauteing the thin chicken breasts, having made the lemon, butter and caper sauce earlier in the afternoon. Every thing was done and in the oven, staying warm until Ramiro got home, at 7:30. We ate dinner in the sun room, feasted on the chicken picata and rice, as well as asparagus which Beth had roasted in the oven. And we had some Hawaiian rolls, big, soft and fluffy, with Irish butter, yum. We were not through with eating until after 8:00 and it was already time for Marisa to go to bed, albeit reluctantly. Evie took her up and did not get downstairs again until after 9:00. We then watched two more episodes of House of Cards, both among the best, as Francis's true Machiavellian side comes out. And Claire, his wife, is no shrinking violet either. Together, they outdo Macbeth and his wife in depravity, no doubt. We did not finish until after 11:00 and have one more episode to go to finish Season One.
