Darkness In The Morning

7:40
4:46,  Yesterday, Late Afternoon Melt
Awake at 6:00, to a darkened house, twinkling lights on the opposite shoreline, and a surprisingly warm 36º.  I wonder if spring is beginning to rear its head but just suggesting this suggests hubris, angering the weather gods, sending another blizzard our way.  It's now 7:00, a couple stick figures out on the ice, and huge slicks of water are beginning to appear on the lake surface.

Tree Trimming at Long Point State Park
Neither one of us felt like driving into Lakewood yesterday though it was sunny outside, the high getting up to the 50's in mid afternoon.  So, we decided to hike/cross country ski Long Point, our go to destination when we don't want to drive too far.  It turned out to be a good choice, great for cross country skiing as well as walking, just enough snow to enjoy the morning.  We were out for and hour and a half, circling the park, walking out to the end of Long Point and back.  It was windy towards Bemus, mostly because we decided to walk back along the lake's shoreline, to the the Marina.  We did pass the ubiquitous gang of trusties and their screw (slang for guard), this time gathering tree limbs and branches, cut by the park rangers, clearing areas which might endanger a visitor.  We got home around 12:30, sweaty from our exertion, ready to relax the rest of the day.

Various Animal Tracks In Our Front Yard,
After a lunch of vegetable soup and toasted cheese, I read some, took a nap, before watching Ohio State pull out an amazing victory over Nebraska, after falling behind by 18 points.  I am already getting surfeited with basketball and March Madness has not even begun.  We both remarked how working out or hiking in the morning drains our energy, making us lazy in the afternoons, especially during the winter, so we find ourselves vegging out, rather than doing something active.

We had leftovers for dinner, the beef stew from Wednesday, over rice with a salad.  And we watched Parenthood, then some junk TV, Joan Rivers Oscar Fashion Police, outrageous but funny, but that's Joan Rivers at eighty.
