A Gentle, Light Snow Kind of Morning

A Bad Hair Day For a Redpoll

7:03
Slept in till 7:00, delicious, a gray (what else) sky and lake, 16º so it's warming up for here.  I like mornings like this, have them most everyday actually, no hurry to get somewhere until 10:00, when I have yoga, perhaps one of the best things about retirement...you are in no hurry in the morning!  It's now 7:55 and a guy out on the lake is packing it in, heading back to shore, having had enough this morning.

Yesterday morning because of the cold weather, we did not do much, for me mostly waiting to go to the dentist, for Evie doing some prepping for dinner because the McClures were coming for dinner.  I am hoping it warms up enough today for us to get in some cross country skiing though we are going of to yoga and the Y this morning around 9:30.

Early afternoon, I had another dentist appointment, no fun, stopped at the library and dropped off my tax information in downtown Jamestown.  When I got home, around 3:00, everything was done for dinner, and Evie was relaxing, ready to take a shower.
Ron and Linda McClure  3/17/13
Ron called about 5:00, to let us know they could not get the water on in their house, that they were waiting for the plumber, and might not be able to  come to dinner.  Fortunately, it was just a frozen pipe, easily warmed by the plumber's torch, so they were able to make it by 6:15.  Dinner was pork tenderloins, with a delicious sauce Evie made up and the highlight for both of us was the Mushroom polenta, a recipe we found in Sunday's New York Times, where you make up a sauce with cremini and porcini mushrooms, add soy sauce, butter, and cream and you have an amazing sauce for the polenta, cooked for 45 minutes almost like a risotto.  Along with salad and asparagus, we had a feast. Linda and Ron are up for ten days, so we will be hanging out with them quite a bit, as we have much in common, food and alcohol!  A good night, ending with a bar of chocolate, with coconut caramel center...amazingly good.
