It's 7:10 and the repair guy is already here, seeing if he can fix our dishwasher. I am not optimistic. We got a couple inches of snow overnight and it's cold, 14º. Evie's awake, having her coffee upstairs and will be off to school at 9:30 since yesterday started two hours late because of ice so she skipped it. It's 7:43 and the dishwasher drains. The drain hose behind the dishwasher was kinked. Despite the wind and cold, a couple of ice-fishing tents are out in front of Wells Bay. I also noticed few if any birds are at our feeder. Either the seeds are frozen or a predator is around. It's 9:05 and the finches are back; I guess they took a respite.

Braving The Cold And Wind |
Yesterday was icy Thursday, making it dangerous to be on the roads or out walking so we never ventured out except to pick up the mail. So we stretched out our morning coffee, in no hurry to get busy. By 10:30, I was making black bean soup, easy to make and tasty. While I was simmering the soup, Evie made sweet potato fritters to go with our lamb chop dinner.
For lunch, I heated up the tofu stir fry from Wednesday night with rice and watched another episode of Person Of Interest. I then got back to my book but am started to get bored with it. It's interesting, all the intrigue around the World Fair, the architects arguing, but it becomes tedious even though we also follow a serial killer to spice it up but not enough. I napped while Evie finished up a few things and watched TV and we both had a lazy, leisurely afternoon, not wanting to do much. I went out briefly and pulled the Outback out of the garage because I had been having trouble opening the doors to the garage because of the ice.
At 5:00, we had our happy hour and couldn't resist listening to the news, knowing it would upset both of us because it's all about Trump and his sycophants, too afraid to contradict him. Evie fried up the fritters and lamb chops, made a salad, and we had dinner. We struggled to find anything worth watching on TV and ended up with a couple of old reruns of series we liked. Evie went up to bed early because she knew she would be getting up early and I watched my series and some basketball, what else. It was a boring day, staying inside never getting out for a hike or yoga or shopping.
