Hanging Out With Family In Dallas

The Family, Christmas, 2013

The Family, Thanksgiving, 2019
It's 7:45 and Rami and I are sitting in the living room, watching ESPN's recap of yesterday's football results, drinking white coffees.  It's a chilly 41º this morning, quite a drop from yesterday's 70º early morning.

Beth And Her Pal, Kaia
Yesterday we got a late start to our day, mostly because I wanted to watch the Ohio State/Michigan game although everyone was happy to hang around the house.  Rami and I were up early and the rest slept in some, Tyler not getting up until around noon.  Beth made breakfast once everyone was up except for Tyler and me, both yogurt in the morning boys.

Milena And Mitchell
Mitchell's girlfriend Milena came over around noon to spend the day with us.  She also is a senior at the University Of Texas, lives a half-hour away, and is really cute and fun and fits in perfectly with the family.  The game was over around 2:00 with only me caring about the fact that Ohio State won.

Dallas Museum Of Art

With Dad
At 2:30, all eight of us left to see an installation at the Dallas Art Museum, about a twenty-five-minute drive from home.  Parking is 15 bucks but the museum is free, great for families.  Earlier, Beth had seen this musical installation called The Visitors, a music video representation of a single lyric from a poem performed by eight musicians playing simultaneously.  Each musician appears on a separate screen in an often idyllic setting, each like a Dutch painting: libraries, bedrooms, living rooms,  drawing rooms, even a guitar player sitting in a bathtub. Together, they perform ' a rich, layered chorus,' often repetitious, lasting about forty-five minutes. Evie and I stayed the whole time, moving from screen to screen, but the kids were a bit bored and ended up at the coffee shop.

We were home by 4:30, happy to be back on the couches, petting Kaia who is quickly becoming acquainted with all the gang.  She loves sitting on the couch, head on someone's lap.  Beth took Tyler to a local store called Tylers, to pick up some clothes while the rest of us just hung out.  Around 6:30, we headed downtown to our favorite taco joint, El Come Taco, a dive we have been to three or four times and Tyler's favorite.  It basically a take-out joint, with six or seven tables.  We ordered an array of tacos, guacamole, and margaritas and stuffed ourselves with authentic, just made tacos. They are the best and put Taco Bell to shame.

Mitch Loses To Milena Again
We didn't get home until 8:00 and decided to introduce Milena to our family card game called Telefunky.  Six of us played it for an hour and a half, with Mitch and Milena winning, two happy winners.  By 10:00, the old folks were tired so we went up to bed, leaving the younger generation to watch a movie on TV.
