Waiting Anxiously

6:10

6:13

6:16
I was up before 6:00 and was able to see the sun rise above a few clouds.  It's already sticky and warm, 70º, at 7:00.  It should be a sunny and hot day, getting into the 80's, with thundershowers arriving, supposedly, tomorrow, when our kids are here.  I pick up my son Tommy and his family at 4:30 in Buffalo and Beth's family flies in late in Cleveland, heading to the lake after midnight alas. I did get a quick kayak in this morning, down to Whitney Bay and back, just as the weed barge came by to pick up the weeds along the shoreline.
Kayak Morning
Yesterday was uncomfortably warm after a fairly pleasant June and much of July.  We have avoided up until now the heat that has been affecting the rest of the country.  We did not venture forth to Wegman's yesterday, a minor miracle but then, we will be heading there this morning to finalize our shopping for much of the weekend with our kids.  Evie was busy early, making a couple of baked zitis, freezing them so we can have them next week for an easy dinner.

HUGE!
My project for the day was to inflate our new floating island, complete with five seats, drink holders, cooler and two lounges.  It's HUGE as our president would say and quite heavy.  Let's hope it lasts for the next couple of weeks because, like most inflatables, it easily gets small leads.  We decided to leave it in the yard, and will check it this morning to make sure it still holds firm before putting it in the water.

Lunch was easy, pizza warmed, and Halle finished up the corn chowder before she and Evie went out to spend the afternoon out on the dock.  It was a warm afternoon on the dock, so Evie and Halle spent quite a bit of time in the water and Evie took many photos of Halle jumping and diving into the water. We also did more weeding, as lots of weeds leftover from the cutters, were floating on the lake's surface.

Cutting Weeds In The Deep
Around 4:30, I put together an anchor and buoy for our float, threw it in the water, then dragged it out to where we wanted it.  It looked like we might have rain so I put on my boat cover, a sure way ensure it would not rain.  It proved correct.  Around 5:00, we sat down with our neighbors and had a beer before it was time to get dinner ready.  We were having salmon, one of Halle's favorites although she is not a garlic spinach fan.  We ate outside again and it was much cooler than in the house.  The salmon was cooked perfectly and Halle had two helpings of both salmon and salad.

Halle And Granny At Dusk
After dinner, we were invited next door to celebrate Bill and Joyce's grandson Brian's twelfth birthday, with a rich chocolate cake from Wegman's with ice cream.  It was a good way to end the day and we sat outside talking until dark.  When we went home, we had just enough time to watch one more episode of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS before it was time for Halle to go upstairs to bed.

And Sis
Today's a big day, as our kids arrive.  Yippee.
