Heading East, To Darien, For My Grandson's Graduation

Kayak Morning

Rhododendron
Up at 5:30, to the honking of Canadian geese though we want to be on our way to Darien by 7:00 at the latest so it does not matter.  It's 66ยบ outside, partly cloudy.  We are pretty organized so we just have to drop a couple of bags in the car and we should be off.  It looks like we may have rain here at the lake, as well on our drive East. No fishing boats on the lake yet but they will come.

Yesterday was warm but we were able to enjoy the outdoors, mostly because of a decent breeze, mostly on the dock, not in the yard.  Since we were up early, we went kayaking around 7:10, a perfect time to get in a paddle, before the heat of the day.  We paddled over to Long Point but the bay was littered with sticks, detritus from the storm, so it was not much fun paddling around the floating junk, so we headed back to Wells Bay and home.  I had yoga at 9:00 but I had enough time to get everything out of the garage, sweep it, and let it dry out, as it was still wet from the rains seeping in on to the floor.  In fact, when I closed it up around 5:00, the floor was still damp I assume because of the humidity and lack of wind.  Yoga went quickly, and a couple of new women were there, one I found out was my yoga teacher's, mother.  She's the second Mom I have met whose daughter is a teacher.  I did some shopping, stopped at Wegman's, then came home.
Stan Marshaus and Mary

We were able to spend the late afternoon out on the dock, read and Stan Marshaus drove over in his 1974 Corvette with Mary, his five year old daughter.  We sat on the dock and talked while Evie and Mary played on the ladder, looking for fish.  Stan stayed for about a half hour, then Evie made up some guacamole, which we enjoyed on the dock before dinner, with a beer. The lake, even at 6:00, was strangely quiet, as the weekenders had yet to arrive.  It was still quite warm, so we swam briefly, as it's still very cold if you stay in long.  I then cleaned up the garage, washed the car, while Evie got things packed for our trip.  Earlier in the day, she made Mrs. Snavely's coffee cake for Tyler, as well as pizza dough for Sunday's dinner, after graduation.

We had an easy dinner, bacon, eggs, and bagels, just enough after the guacamole and chips.  We watched TV, of course, read some and went to be early because we hoped to get up early and be on our way.
