A Wall Of Fog Hides The Sunrise

6:20

6:25

Dinner at Seezurh House
Up a little later, 6:20, to some brightness, the sun struggling to rise above the bank of fog off towards Long Point.  A very cool morning, 48ยบ though it will warm up, the sun will come out for a perfect Sunday, I hope.  Perhaps a walk at the CI, some kayaking, even a boat ride...it seems like it has been awhile since we have done much outside because of the rains.  A mixture of sounds, the martins but also, now, bass boats, racing out of the Long Point Marina completes the morning!

Started yesterday with yoga with Chris, three of us, one was Ian, an Englishman I met a couple of weeks ago who has two businesses, one in Jamestown, one in California.  It was a better class than usual though the utility company was outside our studio, putting in a new pole, which was annoying for all of us.  Chris was chatty as usual, better this time, as he talked about the importance of 'letting go,' a yoga mantra but also part of every religion and philosophy.  Like everything, the hard part is doing it, letting go of the past, of anger, and forgive or forget.  After yoga, I took two trips to the Transfer Station, as I forgot we had thrown away attic detritus and I had put it in a box.  There is a small pleasure each Saturday, as I return with an empty garbage can, the garage is a bit less messy and crowded.  '

Again, yesterday was a cloudy day, not very inviting to be outside, and wet but we decided to kayak before it rained, which it didn't but one never knows.  We were not out for long because it was cooler than we thought but it was good to be out on the lake again.  There is not a lot of boat traffic yet, which is surprising though we may see more today because it's going to be warmer and sunny.  I worry about boating because of all the flotsam from the rains a few days ago.  Our waterfront was still riddled with twigs, small logs, and other stuff.  Mid afternoon, Evie ran outside with our camera because there was a deer paddling in front of our dock, obviously chased into the lake by some animal. It changed directions when frightened by our neighbors lawnmower and headed back over to Long Point, where it jumped out and ran off.

At 6:00, we met friends for dinner at the Seezurh House, Stan Marshaus, John DiAngelo and his wife Penny, and their friend from Painesville, Ohio, Fritz Overs, who we had met once before.  The Seezurh was crowded and noisy, the way we like it, and we had our usual, Evie a chicken sandwich, me a burger with the works.  It was one of those nights where one of us, Fritz, takes over, tells boring story after boring story, till you cannot wait to leave.  Evey one was nice and did not say anything and perhaps, the others did not feel the way Evie and I did.  But it was a relief when he said he had to get home to his sick wife.  Evey one then came over to our house for dessert and we had a good time, catching up on the lives of our grandchildren.  John and Penny have seven like us and Stan of course has none, just two young  daughters, which we constantly reminded him of.  They left about 9:30, a good evening, and it's always fun to see John, a friend from my high school and college days.  We met on the summer basketball courts in East Cleveland, both of us played college hoops, and ended up teaching  and coaching together in Painesville forty five years ago.
