Cool and Overcast in Darien

It's cooling off her on the East coast, and right now it's 46 degrees out; it's not supposed to rain until the afternoon if at all.  The kids are still sleeping, though Evie's up, as we are watching the best of Hardball, more politics even early in the morning.  Tyler slept over a buddies house, so only Marisa and Mitch are here.

Yesterday was a strange day for us, as the grandchildren are growing up, going off their own ways during the day.  To begin with,  Beth and Rami left for the city, to spend the day and night.  At 9:30, I took Mitchell over to a friend's house for an all day birthday party.  They were going long boarding in the town of Hamden, about an hour from Darien, then dinner and a movie.  Tyler had the SAT's, so he did not get home till about 1:00, so we decided to take Marisa to a local park called Waveny, in New Canaan, an estate that has become a park.  It's a beautiful place to walk, with lots of locals walking, running, enjoying the day.  They even have a outdoor workout station, as good as many gyms I would think, and Marisa had to try every one.  We were there for close to two hours, and came home to relax for the afternoon.  We didn't do much the rest of the day, another drive to a park, with Marisa and Cody, before dinner and that's about it.

Mitchell came home around 3:30 with his friends, to skateboard on the streets nearby.  They stayed till about 6:00 before heading off to dinner and a movie, Taken 2.  Tyler connected with a buddy and met him for dinner at Five Guys in Stamford.  Teens are not allowed to drive their first year with a friend, so each of them had to drive to the hamburger joint in their own cars.  We ordered a pizza from a new place, Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza.  When I brought it home, Evie called them back because the crust edges were burnt.  They replied that that's their modus operandi, so we ate it and enjoyed it, burnt crust and all.  We watched a family movie with Marisa, SUMMER ELEVEN,  and we all really liked it, about four ten year olds during the summer before they enter middle school.  A good story, great acting by all of them.  I cannot believe it never made it nationally.  Marisa went to bed around 9:30, exhausted after a long day, a movie, finishing her book (she read for over an hour), and lots of pizza.  Mitch returned home around 10:00, tired and ready for bed.
