Dinner at Mc Clures |
It's 37 degrees out. lots of long ribbon shaped clouds of various widths, though the sun is now trying to peak through them. Every morning it's different but the same, clouds and sun, some combination, lots of shades of pink or orange, some blue, light or dark, and gray, of course, depending on the sunrise, and a lake to reflect it all. A pleasant day in the offing, with a chance of showers later in the day.
We struggled to get back in our routine yesterday, at least I did, as I had little if any mojo. I did take my boat down to Snugs early, to avoid the rain and winds that were predicted late morning. Of course, it did not start initially so I fiddled with the battery terminals and it did start up. I moored it at Snugs, then went up to Carpenter Pringle with Joe Deault, to get my trailer and pull the boat out of the water. Snugs will wash the algae off the bottom and winterize the engine before I trail it back to the garage where I store it. Anyways, that was about it for me for the day, other than some reading and taking a nap. Evie managed to cut the lawn before the rain started, though you can hardly tell this morning as the leaves fell overnight, covering a good part of it, as usual.
In the evening, we went to the Mc Clures for dinner, as they are leaving for Murraysville this morning. It was a good night to get together, dark and stormy, with occasional sleet pounding on the roof. We had an excellent meal, roast chicken, arugula/mushroom salad, Brussels sprouts, and Evie's favorite, squash gnocchi. We stayed till about 10:00, catching up on the news, laughing quite a bit about some of their experiences this past week, especially an encounter with a women named Butch who lives at at the CI. We know now to avoid her if perchance we get in her way on a walk or visit to the library. Ron and I talked baseball, reminisced about the 1954 Indians pennant winning team. We came up with all the starters but the shortstop and had to look him up on the web, George Strickland, for you Tribe fans. We felt much better knowing this. They will be gone till the second week in November. We drove home on darkened streets, never meeting a car on our way, O, the joys of Chautauqua roads during off season.
