What A Lake Morning

8:38

7:11

It's 8:40 and I paddled for over an hour, down to Booty Bay and back. I had a good morning of birding, spotting eagles, ospreys, a heron, and maybe a hawk. I was not sure. Our friends from Hudson spent the night and are out on the dock enjoying the morning.

Yesterday was a busy day getting ready for the company.  After my paddle and the blog, I went out and mowed the lawn and cleaned the porch, which took me at least a good hour. Evie had a doctor's appointment in Westfield at 11:00 and was gone until 12:15. I was basically through with my chores by then, and she made me a salami sandwich, and I watched my show.

I tried to nap to no avail, probably because I had a dentist's appointment at 2:30, to discuss major work on my front teeth. I now know what to expect and just need to make an appointment. It's not going to be fun. On my way home, I stopped at Tops and at Peterson's, picking up corn. I was home by 3:30 and our friends from Hudson, Barb and Mike, were there. They spend a couple of months in a cabin outside of Jackson Hole each winter and volunteer once a week at Yellowstone, so it's always fun to hear about their experiences. We also talked about grandchildren, since their son, Ian, had just had his first child, a daughter. By 5:30, they were off to visit with classmates (it's Barb's 50th Jamesstown High School Reunion) at The Pub, a bar in downtown Jamestown.

They were back by 6:45, and we relaxed with a glass of wine before having dinner, pasta with brie, tomatoes, garlic, and basil. It was great, just what I wanted, and we had fun talking about our kids and grandkids, what else. We had peaches and ice cream for dessert and stayed up talking until 9:30.

The reunion is this evening in Jametown, and they will hang out with us during the day. We hope to get in a hike and maybe lunch at the Asheville Country Store before the reunion.
