Anniversary Dinner At Oliver's, In Erie, PA |
 |
7:52 |
It's 9:11 and I got up late, amazingly, at 7:45, and paddled for an hour, returning just before 9:00. It was another fine lake morning, some sun, some clouds, an occasional boat, on a calm lake. I espied five different ospreys and no eagles, strangely. I kayaked along Woodlawn, back to Sandy Bottom and home, a good start to the day.

Saturday turned out to be a good day. I was up early and paddled before our friends woke. We sat around talking and having coffee until 10:00 when they left to meet acquaintances for breakfast. I then made myself some breakfast, the usual, yogurt and fixings, and did nothing the rest of the morning, other than read and relax. Evie was with me, and neither of us was up for any big project. Around noon, I drove to the Transfer Station, got rid of trash and came home to breakfast at 1:00, the last of the leftover pasta.

Ready For Take Off |
It was another blue sky, sunny afternoon, with temperatures in the high 70s, maybe in the 80s when the wind died down. I napped some, watched some TV as did Evie but by 4:00, I wanted to do something so I cleaned out the garage and swept it out, putting it back in order. By 5:00, we were dressed up and ready to drive to Erie for our anniversary dinner at Olivers, at the top of the Hampton Inn on Erie's waterfront.

It's a forty-minute drive, and we were fortunate to find a parking spot in front of the Hampton on a very crowded Saturday night. We took the elevator up to the eighth floor, sat at the bar for ten minutes waiting for our table, then were taken to it with an amazing view of Presque Isle and Lake Erie. In fact, the windows were open so we were getting a nice breeze. It was a classy restaurant, packed with people, many like us celebrating birthdays or reunions. We had a great waiter, enjoyed a teriyaki shrimp appetizer, and then our mains, a pork chop for Evie, pasta with eggplant, shrimp, and crab for me. Both were so ample that we were able to take some home, and they will be tonight's dinner.
All four of us loved the food, the venue, and the view and vowed to come back more often. We were home by 8:45 and tired out from our day. Evie went up to bed, and I watched an episode of my series before joining her.
